A way to disable the "grey filter"?
Hi,
So there are gamma issue in this game, a lot! When entering a dark areas or at nigh, there's a sort of "grey/blue filter" which appears and makes everything seems washed out...
Gamma slider is useless, changing the value in the .ini does nothing...
So I'd like to know if there's a way to disable this gamma change, via settings .ini or else, I'd like the gamma to stay the same during my playtrough?

I've noticed his too. Last night I was recovering the train carriage and at one point I was looking down at the cabin floor and could see the gamma flickering between dark and washed out.

AFAIK it has something to do with HDR and DLSS. Another time I notice gamma issues is with the loading screens. I get a dark oversaturated image as the game is loading and then once the HOLD E prompt appears the screen becomes very dull and washed out. When I turned off DLSS that no longer happened.

Still, DLSS 1440p looks better than native 1080p to me eyes so I'd prefer to keep it.

Hi Jac,
Many thx for the info, I'll try with DLSS off, but I'm pretty sure I already tried it
Also in Sam's story, I have a bug, where gamma become normal only when I sit to rest... then when I leave, colors stay correct, so there's clearly a bug!
Everything is washed out, I make Sam sit, and everything become normal, colorful, black are black and not grey...
In fact when I make Sam sit, it's the same gamma when you put the helmet on, but when I sit, it stays this way even if I leave
I'll put this evening some pics or video to show this bug, before Sam sit everything is washed out, then Sam sit and everything become colorful and nice and stay this way
PS: I don't use HDR as my Acer Predator 4k/60htz hasn't HDR, it's not activated in Windows

Hi Sir Robin,
yeah I've heard about this fix, but I really don't like Geforce experience, I'll install it tonight to see exactly what it does, many thx
But it would be nice to completly disable it, without having to install Geforce exp. or reshade (DX11 only)

It does remove that annoying grey filter, here is the thread I used back then when I was playing the game

and another one

It was working before they applied the latest patch. I am using HDR and it was working fine before that. Now the gamma and HDR settings are completely broken :/

Ok, so ive made some test...
This issue is DX12 only...
DX11 gamma is perfect, no grey filter... but no rtx and no dlss...
The game is out since 1 year...
Gamma in DX12 is all over the place and I DON'T HAVE AN HDR MONITOR, so it's not the dlss + hdr bug
The weirdest thing is I solved this issue by making Sam sit, the animation trigered a change in gamma, which is the right one, then when i made him leave, it stayed this way... with the good colors

I'll try running without HDR tonight and see if that has any effect.

Jac, many thx, I'll do some more testing also, and I'll provide some pics and video.
Hope we can sort this out, because Metro Exodus in DX11 without RTX on is a bummer... But I can't play with such washed out colors

Hi,
Here are the link for pics, where you can see that gamma is washed out, then I make Sam sit, and gamma become normal and stay this way.
Also a link for a video, where you can see gamma is washed out, Sam sit and gamma become normal, I make Sam leave and gamma stays normal:
