physX is for physic effect.
For example, liquid simulation.

It's a Nvidia SDK demo

I think it affects cloth (ie flags) and liquids for more realistic effects.

If this is like other games, you will see no performance difference on Nvidia cards. On AMD cards, some of it will be offloaded to the CPU, so you will see a franmerate dip if your CPU is ass.

You can try turning it off, but I doubt it will matter on your card. You should turn it from Ulta down to High; the difference is minor and the frame gain is tremendous.

I have turned the settings down on high and the difference in visuals is minor but its sad that with a 1080ti I cant run on ultra..optmization sucks

Physx for Exodus runs ONLY on the CPU. Generally it's not too taxing between on vs off. Something like hairworks or tessellation would be more taxing on the GPU.

This game does NOT use Physx 5.0, I think it is a version ot 3.x on Exodus.

There are more pretty beefy card´s for wich Metro Exodus is quite a job. Take a look at how much heavier the ''redux'' version's became for a pc. Pretty much, so it's also a bit cause of 4A. There are recent game's with certain graphical look's you might think they would be a bigger load they are even easier to digest by your GPU then Exodus.

Uhm... You absolutely see a performance difference on nVidia cards lol. Even with an nVidia gpu most of the physics is offloaded to the cpu.

How can that be?? I think your graphics card is either thermal throttleing or bad settings.
I have an i5 4690k @4.2Ghz and when I OC my 1080Ti I can easily play at 4k on Ultra 60fps no problem. At 1080p on extrem I get around 100-120fps, when Stock. When I cap it at 60fps with VSync The graphics card even stops turbo boosting and it runs on 1000-1300Mhz. Something is wrong with your card. If this is still relevant and you need any help ask away. :)

It is BS.

A 1080 Ti can't play Exodus at 120 fps on Extreme at neither 4K or 1080p.

Neither can that i5 Haswell CPU hold 120 fps, not even in DX12, lol.

yes it does. I said 100-120fps it depended on the environment. In the metro I got up to 180 fps. desert sometimes 80-90 when I playtested it. I had it OC to 2.2Ghz tho. But the card is old and tired now it won't push past 2Ghz anymore. 4k was 60 stable (almost all the time) when I playtested it. mostly played on 1080p tho. 60fps lock. Also don't remember what game settings I used but it was almost the best. I think hairworks was off. With hairworks on I got a instant drop on 30-40fps. The i5 was a beast btw. Sadly not anymore.

Dude I know right? I remember getting a loan so I could pay it off over 3 years which was my only way to afford it and remember feeling so powerful, especially when VR was starting to gain some traction. It's crazy to think cards are sooooo much better than that now. I remember the jump from the 980ti to the 1080ti was HUGE, at least that's what it felt like then till the 3080ti came out and absolutely STOMPPED the 2080ti!

The Optimization is great I’m playing on a old i5 9500 currently with a 3060ti all maxed out I get like 80-100 or higher fps

It shouldn't be having problems running the game on ultra @ 1080p. I have an RX 6600 which is slightly weaker than the GTX 1080 TI but I'm getting over 100 FPS on ultra @ 1080p. I do have tessellation and hairworks off as they destroy FPS. And obviously, no RTX/Raytracing.
