Sam's Story Tips and Easter Eggs
I have just finished the DLC twice and got all the achievements so here are some interesting bits I found in chronological order.

1. Batwing's arenas (three in total) always have some ammo and resources around for you to resupply; some supplies however, are in the form of dead bodies.

2. The shooting range will award you with some incendiary ammo if you can hit all the targets.

3. The first night hunter hideout inside the swimming pool has 9 molotovs, night vision, burst fire mod+30-round magazine for the Sammy rifle (Tommy gun; they even look alike with the 100-round drum magazine+heavy stock). Definitely grab it.

4. The pair of bandits in the theater hall (an optional area) talking about the plot of a pre-war movie is a reference to the first Godfather. The movie the gang bosses are watching is also one of the very first scenes ever capture on motion pictures (a steam train rolling into the station).

5. The flooded basement in the theater has a dead night hunter holding a modded Stallion pistol.

6. Unmarked on the map by a question mark, the second night hunter hideout is on the first floor of the apartment where you encounter the captain for the second time. To access it, follow your wrist detector and find a crack on the wall to cut the rope holding a red door shut nearby. The third night hunter hideout is on the second floor of the same apartment. The room is not hard to find if you follow the glowing trail using NVG. However, the real prize, a suit upgrade, is hiding behind the pickle jars. Shoot to break the jars.

7. The three-phased sniper fight has no auto-save after you get off the boat on Ranger Hardcore. Make sure you defeat the enemies first before looting the fourth night hunter hideout in the phase one building.

8. In case you haven't noticed by now, the captain's trust level replaced the moral system from the main game. However, you must earn these trusts manually by engaging in QTE or actual actions. Here are the five trusts in order: hold H to conceal your weapon→hold E to clear the trap→hold D to give a can of food→rearm all five traps in the hideout→find out what happened to the coup members in the bog.

9. The fifth night hunter hideout is in the captain's hideout as well. Break a painting to get in.

10. The final night hunter hideout is on the humanimal isle. Cat's scout will tell you where exactly.

11. The two fishermen in the bog will talk about an alleged encounter between the sub and the lizardman's base when you first arrive. This is a reference to Fallout 2; specifically the Enclave and their oil rig in the pacific. Later, the fishermen tell the story of a ghost vessel wondering about the sea with supernatural monsters on-board. The description of the monster is a reference to the weeping angels from Doctor Who; specifically, their ability to move when not observed by their victims. BTW, the fishermen will open fire on you when you open the door unlike what they promised in the beginning of the conversation.

12. The new electric spider is rather resistant to incendiary rounds (three bursts in point blank range). However, a direct hit from a molotov can end their life just fine.

13. The enemies that are supposed to attack the sub in the end sequence can spot you and give you a hard time. Clear them out with a long range weapon first. Note: they do spawn infinitely.

14. the DLC has terrible auto-save on Ranger Hardcore. However, the game does give you an auto-save everytime you: sit down and play a tune on the harmonica; find new mods, suit upgrades, and night hunter hideouts. however, you need to stand still for a brief moment afterwards for the game to give you these additional auto-save. Very irritating.

15. Speaking of harmonica, tune No. 6 is Manchester united, No. 7 is the House of the Rising Sun, and the other tunes are varies folk songs and classics.

Any way to get into the bandit base?

The place you need to go through, to find the fire department.

I'm stuck as the place is locked down, and getting out of your boat and into the water means death.

You have to go through the car dealership on land to get to the bandit base. Though you will need to fight the batwing before that.
