Sprint not working??

Im in the first open world area ive already escaped the guys in the church and im out here walking around and i cant sprint. i tried rebinding keys and everything. i have no understanding of why im not able to sprint

Bro it's because you need to git gud. No nubs or plebs allowed. Lose some weight and then you'll be able to sprit. Also eat fruits and veggies.

You're not crouching are you? Can't sprint if crouched I don't think. Maybe check your Controls, apart from the Sprint key there's also a Sprint toggle key. (Crouch & Run toggles too)

i tried a ton of stuff and i did check to make sure i wasnt crouching(glad im not a moron) but what ended up happening is i walked into some water and did the whole struggle out of the water animation and then my sprint worked after that. I think the little cutscene where that huge fish grabs your boat broke my sprint cause it started right after that and i guess jumping in water again fixed it? idk whole thing was ♥♥♥♥♥♥ weird

The game has a few quirks unfortunately.
FYI; it's cloud sync is bugged (corrupt saves & other strange behaviour), disable it here:
Right click the game in the steam client, select Properties, select General tab, disable sync.

Nope it will untoggle your crouch and make you stand up and run, if you do that.

A lot of times it's from people who are playing then alt-tab away to do something...

Tap alt once. Then see if you can sprint. The "modifier" keys like ctrl/tmp-crouch and shift/run are the ones that get gonked if this happens, but the rest work, so you never figure it out

note that sometimes you can't sprint, just like sometimes you can't draw your weapons or throw things. because you're not supposed to.
