Ran out of ammo fighting the bear

How do I beat this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bear ? used all my ammo, fire, grenades. I even went to the cheese spot to give me time to craft more. Used all my crafting materials to make and use more arrows - bear still not dead. I never missed. Whats going on ?

Finally got it. My 2nd round of ammo was enough, but I had to leave the cheese spot and stand back up on the platform in order to trigger a scripted bit where the bear knocks you over.

I just blast it to the fact with Ashot , throw molotov and dump some Valve round .

Love the strategy !! Alas I was playing stealthily mostly avoiding everyone and in Ranger hardcore difficulty, I only had a crossbow, nothing else.

What I dont get is, with stealth and the RHC difficulty being somewhat 'quintessential' to the series as a whole, surely 4A would have accounted for a stealth play through in Taiga only to get there without all the tools you need to progress. Feels a bit unbalanced.

No matter, I got thought it and finished the game last night. Thank god for the cheese spot !!
