Technical issue: Track pad causes accidental Weapons fire:

I'm sure there is an easy fix i'm overlooking here,
My computer:
Late 2019 Macbook Pro / Keyboard and Mouse S
The problem:
During gameplay, my thumb slips off the space bar and triggers the trackpad causing me to fire my weapon randomly.
Question:
Can anyone advise me on how to disable the trackpad during gameplay, short of manually disabling its' functions every time I launch the game application?
