can't run the game on DX12
i looked up a solution for this and tried the following
-disable windows game bar
-close out msi afterburner
-launch the game in safe mode first, close it, then relaunch
all that did was reset my video settings and put it back to DX11
-i want DX12 enabled so that i can use Ray tracing and DLSS
-my gpu is RTX and i've used ray tracing on other games like cyberpunk
thanks for any help

yeah when i launch the game with DX12 enabled. it doesn't even reach the main menu of the game it's just a black screen. i disabled the credits, intro, and some other file but that didn't fix it unfortuantely

try playing a bit in dx11 and save the game, switch to dx12 and relaunch the game

Save yourself the trouble and just play with DX11. RTX isn't worth it with this game.

I was on DX11 until it started crashing, so I switched to DX 12, and I haven't crashed.

if your gpu is overclocked, even factory overclocked, it will have issues in this game. right click desktop and open nvidia control panel, select help, enable debug mode which disables factory overclocking while enabled. good luck with it, many can't get a stable experience with dx12 in this game.
Factory OC here, never had and issue in this or any other DX12 game.
Your experience does not equal everyone else's.

I have a rare freezing issue with this game, see this post: https://steamcommunity.com/app/412020/discussions/0/3096760955430465254/

I tried everything including switching to DX11.. didn't solve it. I also tried 2 totally different GPU's and it happend on both (also with 2 totally different systems).
Both cards were ever so slightly overclocked from the factory but It shouldn't be the cause in my opinion, not in this game nor in any other game. The factory overclock should be rock stable..

Up to the point I get the freezing, the game runs amazing on DX12, with all the settings cranked up.
So I don't think DX12 is to blame here. The OP could be missing important SDK files or libraries. It may be drivers.
I now started a new playthrough and trying one last advice I got from another steam member, I set "High DPI settings" inside the game exe file to be controlled by the application. Maybe my issue hides in this setting..although I am not optimistic.

Is it a fairly consistent freezing with time, or is it based on area in game?
If it is time based, as say freezes between the 30-40 minutes, at 30 minutes, alt+tab out of the game and use task manager to check your ram usage, on both this game and other things running, then check back every 2 or 3 minutes until the game freezes.

No issue here with DX12, I use it on a Ryzen 5 2600x, 16GB ram, GTX 1070

I use Xbox Game Bar too for monitoring

Might as well wait until PC Enhanced Edition gets released in Spring 2021.

I disabled the game bar, it had issues on my system with certain games.

The freezing happens randomly, it can occur every 20-30 hours of gameplay or even more.
Just for example, I started a new game and reached the caspian area and only than it crashed. The RAM usage is fine, never exceeds 25% ..
I really don't know what to do.. Changing the GPU didn't work, another motherboard and CPU also didn't changed anything.. this is something in windows or the game..I just don't know what could it be. I tried everything and lost all hope.

Maybe try something like DDU clean to clean all GPU drivers if you have swapped cards etc.
https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

Is it just this game or every game?
How much RAM do you have? 25% is pretty low usage. Maybe check that your pagefile is set to auto and hasn't for some reason been changed.
Do you use the nVidia control centre? If you do, maybe after DDU reinstall drivers without the control centre.
