The smaller ones jump around on ya from time to time when you go through webs. I got spooked too, lol.
Thorin :)
A few times.
You first encounter them in the desert area, the Caspian. You have to travel through a spider infested bunker in order to find some maps. It's a lengthy ordeal and the game does it's best to scare you with the lights going out and you being alone. However, you get a special type of ammo for the Tikhar in this game, that basically one shots spiders (it is relatively pricey to make though). The flashlight and lighter still keep spiders away from you and can kill them if they are in the light too long.
There is also an optional boat you can explore that has spiders in the Caspian.
After that, the only other time spiders show up is when travelling through a dam complex. It's a bit spooky since you can't use your flashlight in some areas, but there are lots of torches you can set alight with your lighter to keep the spiders at bay.
There are no sections with infinite respawning spiders in Exodus.
In Sam's DLC, there is an area with spiders, but it isn't that long. There's a new type of spider that takes a fair amount of punishment, but weapons like the sniper, or fire ammo will kill them fast.
