(Artyom dies in the gutter from a bullet to the head delivered by Anna's lover Sam over a card game called 'We all Die')
Seriously though............................................................................................................................
I doubt Artyom, Anna or the team will return to the Metro tunnels. I think if you still envision Artyom typing his memoirs underground it's because they've dug some holes because it's cool and demons can't pounce. Old habit's die hard.
I'm sort of hoping for a gathering of old friends. Khan. Dark Ones. Maybe others. As Artyom leads his small team, along with Dark One assistance, in evacuating the Moscow Metro to Lake Baikal. Seems to be plenty of rolling stock available. A 'Battlestar Galactica' on rails across a devastated post-apocalyptic Russia, with mutants, radiation, and advanced life-forms. No doubt the odd missing bit of track to spice things up.
I also believe that Hanza haven't yet paid a high enough price for shooting me at the start of Exodus. Their murder of many others under the cover of their lies is one thing, but I'm the player and that kind of behaviour by NPCs should be discouraged terminally.
