Gasmask key has two functions. HOLD to put on / take off. TAP (once) to Patch.

Nope. Full Repair requires a workbench but patching (with a piece of sticky tape) can be done in the field.

Fun fact. I had no idea this was a feature until the last level dead city where you're fighting the worms and I was terrified because one cracked my mask and started choking. It scared the ♥♥♥♥ out of me when it attacked me to I fat fingered some keys and accidentally hit G to patch. I thought it was just sort of a planned event for the last level in particular as it played into it heavily... I barely completed the last section, gas mask one hit away from breaking, 30s left on my last filter...

Pretty funny but how did you manage to get through the entire game without breaking your mask? I must have broken mine at least a dozen times on my first playthrough. Hey, it wasn't my fault. umm.. the sun was in my eyes, ok?

Haha, thanks for sharing, that's a good one. I thought the only way to get brand new mask is when you change locations (chapters) on train. So, I was wearing nasty broken mask all game long. Thanks to developpers for letting you play without mask for almost entire game. Btw, i was able to finish game without creating any filters. I kinda "speedrun" all those places when u supposed to have mask on (personally don't like those parts. Also, i find that if you take off your mask for few sec. and put it back, nothing will happen. It helped me few times.

I don't get it. Workbenches give 3 clearly defined options. Create, Clean & Mod, and Equip & Repair. How hard can it be?
