taiga unplayable
from the auto save at the pirates,
i cut the cans, walk around to the back side into the far door, cut cans, back up, throw single can into corner, turn around. crash. every time
i've disabled everything one at a time and the only settings are 1440p, extreme -> low, and 16x AA on direct x 11
which means i went through all the settings for dx12 along with rtx settings
and finally safe mode which just sets to low and 720p it still happens, but with safe mode i have to flick the screen fast back and forth like im shaking my head.
i've removed cloud saves and set to properties to not optimize for full screen.
ryzen 3700 rtx 2080ti windows 10
what do, extended time refund would be nice, i've had less problems/crashes/time spent fixing, ultima 9 ascension
also would like to add, it does take over my keyboard with corsair, and some times if i open steam overlay only the space bar works, returning to the game still functions

Sounds like you need to change that tactic. If you can reproduce the crash by performing the same in-game actions then try changing those actions.

yeah, i get that. but then the next crash. its infuriating. i can jack into a virtual world and have my computer make all the calculations sending 1440x1600 x2 @144hz to my eyes with high texture details and only crash once, after a patch, which was patched shortly after, but crash at random spots and times playing this game. it doesnt seem balanced, but we're talking valve vs 4A.
deep silver also published kingdom come deliverence, which isnt a finished game either, but at least it doesnt crash all the time or at all as far as i remember, and looks great, a few lowres textures but with the rain and the atmosphere its great.

Are you running as admin? That's weak one I know. Have you checked your logs for crash info?

yeah just tried admin with dx 11, and it failed, i dunno where the logs are.
also holy crap this person has the exact same repeatable crash as me im

well from that topic a few post above was this
1. Open the NVIDIA Control Panel and navigate to Manage 3D Settings
2. Select the tab Program Settings and find Metro: Exodus. If you can not find it, click on Add and try to find it here. (try running the game first and close it down again if you can not find it)
3. Set Maximum pre-rendered frames to 1
4. Set Monitor Technology to G-SYNC (if applicable)
5. Set Multi-Display/Mixed GPU Acceleration to Single display performance mode
6. Set Power Management Mode to Prefer maximum performance
7. Set Texture filtering – Quality to Performance
8. Disable Vertical Sync
9. Enable Threaded Optimization
10. Set Preferred Refresh Rate to Highest available
11. Apply the changes and navigate to Adjust desktop size and position
12. Check the checkbox Override the scaling mode set by games and programs and click on Apply.

i've done all that i was able to, pre rendered frames wasnt there vr pre rendered frames was, and it fixed the can crash, but then i had charged into the room and got a caspian sea freeze, so i disabled teselation and hair works, and has gotten me into that room

If somebody had it before then it was a bug or localised optim problem. Like the lighthouse.
Was going to say, where exactly are you but if crashing is regular then look elsewhere I think.
Out of curiosity, checked your temps?

i havent checked the temps but i know what it sounds like when it gets hot and the fans dont ramp up at all on this game.
i did get a repeatable freeze during the lighthouse along with multiple other caspian sea freeze.
Following the posters dev response above has fixed my taiga repeatable crash, and like i said removing hair works and tessellation, it was probably hair works however i disabled both, seems to have put a stop to the freezes
the first part played perfectly fine, i was 20 hours in at the end of the snow level, the issue started at the lighthouse, and continued from there.

OK good. It's a greedy, hungry, buggy game. Don't ya love it? Good luck.
