Metro 2036?
So I've just completed the entire trilogy and I'm extremely satisfied with it. What an adventure these games take you on. I know these games are based on novels by an author but due to the game being extremely good and with it's positive ratings, do you think it's possible we could see 2036?

Last time I heard is that Dmitry Glukhovsky is done with the Metro series novels and has started working on something else. But the good news is it's rumoured 4A has decided to carry on with the Metro games that should still involve Glukhovsky's input in some way.

Anyhow, nothing is officialy announced as of today and it'll be years before we will hear of the potential new game.

There's this video on YouTube which says 4A are working on a Multiplayer Metro game which takes place after Exodus. Not sure if this true at all in anyway but seeing that video has given some hope.

Honestly... Yes.
But, I'm affraid of seeing the same as I've seen in Exodus.

The past two franchises were much better. There were mutants, bandits, whereas in Exodus, there's only a minimum of those AI controlled troublemakers. Sure, you get to see cannibals, but that's all.

The sniper rifle, called Valve, or how, is less powerful than the post-apocalyptic Preved, as we could've seen in Last Light.
Why doesn't Anna have Preved with herself? What have they done to the Metro... :imhfd_ageha:

God.. I hope, they'll make it better, if anything. Because, what Exodus came up with is just terrible!

Глуховский уже работает над сюжетом новой части! в Twitter писал уже!!!!!!
I liked Exodus but for me its like a different game from teh first 2. First beucase it lost its metro vibe. Most of the game is outdoors. At best it maintains the post-apocalyptic scenary.

Secondly, it lost most of its supernatural appeal which was one of the things i liked best about the first games. Gave it a different vibe of most other post-apocalyptic games with the whole Khan scene and even teh Dark Ones.

Seems to me 4A have already laid out the basics of the next game. I think the first 'reveal' of the continuing storyline will turn out to be what Artyom said at the end of Exodus. They have to go back to Moscow and bring the people of Metro to Lake Baikal.

Not an easy job for a commander, his seven men, his wife, a nurse, her daughter, a young boy, and a couple of engineers. They will plainly need help.

What did the small Dark One say to Artyom at the end of 'Last Light'?
"We will meet again."

The order couldn't find better help than the Dark Ones.

Whether in Metro tunnels or open-world, the Metro games have always been first person shooters. No sensible dev is going to throw that following away by making the next instalment some kind of multi-player disappointment. There may be a multi-player game based on it, but the story will continue as FPS.

There are new titles to come and 4A has been hiring for lots of new positions since the corporate restructuring with Koch Media.

Well at least it's reassuring that plans for a new Metro game isn't put on the shelf and that it's definitely being considered. I just hope they don't repeat the same mistake of trying to make it Epic exclusive and then everyone calling for a boycott.

I do want it to continue off Exodus though but this time actually giving Artyom dialogue throughout the game and not just on loading screens etc..

For what it's worth, I think Artyom's story is finished for good in both games and books.
A different Metro or perhaps even some sort of prequel outside of Moscow, yeah, that could work.
But returning to the same Moscow Metro after Exodus feels like a step back again (even though I don't mind the linear gameplay).
Continuing with Exodus' semi opem world structure would just be Exodus 2.0 and I think Exodus already showed all relevant locations and setpieces anyways, i. e. no need for a sequel with another 4 season themed maps...

What actually really bothers me was that the part with "the war still going on" was thrown outside the window so quickly in Exodus, while there was such great potential with actually showing that war...

They could continue the story of Artyom and how he leads the people now since Miller gave him that power before he died. They could go back to Moscow and continue on from ''the war'' segment seeing as how in Exodus they didn't really show that well.

Which would be a huge departure from the books, though. At least Exodus tried to shove a big amount of 2035's plot points into the beginning of the game, but if there was another book AND another game, both would be vastly different in terms of story, tone and setting.

Anyways, I'd have loved the 3rd game to be more like 2035 and more in-depth and Exodus being the 4th game. It starts so fast, throwing many established plot points and characters like the Dark Ones or Khan out of the window within the first hour or so that it's almost like a soft reboot.

I never cared too much for Exodus' settlements and the people living there either, it's more like a quick stop and then moving on to the next rollercoaster ride.

I like the idea of going back to Moscow, though, since there are still stories to tell (the war between the Reds and Nazis, how the "discovery" of the radio shield will affect life in the metro, Hansa and the rest of the Rangers reacting, maybe even have Hunter returning...), but people would probably complain gameplay-wise when things get linear again. Maybe a more open world Moscow could compensate that, with travelling and multiple sidequests from station to station. There could even be a new faction like an actual occupation force entering the Metro and - depending on your choices / karma - the inhabitants of the Metro may or may not unite against this common new threat. Maybe have sone sort of faction system where your actions and choices affect which faction gets to "own" which station and where you can become friendly with certain factions while alienating others (similar to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games...). Maybe play a new character instead of Artyom, but have him show up along with the other rangers as an important NPC. Potential is still there for sure, especially the whole part with the war still going on outside of the Metro having been established and then dropped again right afterwards in Exodus.

(gasp) Agree about MP but the burning of Spartan credentials would be sacrilege, beware.

The Metro 2035 book officially ended with Artyom and Anna driving off into the sunset alone away from Moscow. 90% of Exodus the game is already an expanded adventure of the original series.

As said earlier, Glukhovsky has expressed no interest in continuing the Metro books at this point but will continue to be involved in new Metro games.
