What is causing this weird light?
If these links do not work, can someone please help me with posting links to videos?

This issue persists across different texture quality and ray tracing quality. The edges of objects look blurry and these lighting issues persist in game, especially on distant objects, foliage, and after headshots (head meat gives off bright red glow similar to the style in the video above.)

Is my GPU broken? I am having this issue with other games as well, especially on white/snow textures.

2080ti running driver 451.48 (older driver had same issue)
9700k
32gb RAM
1440p monitor
Windows 10 home

Thanks!

No image to look at--just a black screen, but from your description, it sounds like it's just a settings issue. It certainly isn't your equipment, as it is slightly better than mine, and I have never experienced anything like you mentioned. Did you run the Metro Exodus Benchmark through various combinations of settings to determine the best settings for your game?

The link doesn't go to a video? It works for me when I click it.

There are yellow/green colors shimmering over a white snow texture. The video is from the benchmark and persists through all different variations of settings in the ultra-extreme range with other settings toggled on or off.

I believe in that video I do, yes. But the issue persists with it off as well

So I narrowed it down to Ray Tracing. Other settings have no effect, but turning off Ray Tracing as a whole removes the issue...

Is this then a GPU issue? I don't want to have this 2080 ti if I can't use the features of it...

I've seen some weird colors like this before, but it has been a while and rarely happens anymore. Verify game cache and clean install the latest drivers.

Disabling RTX and reenabling, does that fix the issue?

Does it look like it is coming from a particle like these? DS categorized this as a bug and passed it to the 4A for review.

I have this same issue with the 2080ti in this game. Very frustrating, but yea turning ray tracing and DLSS off fixes that weird blurry/pixelation issue.

Yeah, that's the brains lighting issue I've been having! The snow and grenade particles not so much. I see it mostly with landscapes in the distance and in the Troiga forest mission with the what I would assume are fireflies. When they fly through bushes, it looks like an old static TV channel with yellow instead of white.

What I'm not understanding is why is the color on the snow green/yellow for me? Every other particle issue I've been having (and in those videos) closely mirrors the initial light source...the only light in the benchmark video I put is the candle in the top right.

I'll try a clean driver install, I've already checked the game cache. I just recently did a clean driver install for the newest drivers that came out last week, so maybe that didn't go as planned.

Could this be an issue with Nvidia control panel settings? I'm pretty sure I have everything turned to Application controlled that has the option for it. I have Negative LOD bias set to "Clamp"...maybe I'll try disabling that for the landscape issues, but I can't imagine that would cause any foreground issues.

Thank you for your help and for finding those videos

Did a DDU clean install of the GPU drivers and the issue is even worse now...anything with light shining on it has what looks like a black cross-weave going over it where the "god rays" are supposed to be.
