The acting feels weird
Anyone else got the impression? Or was I simply in the wrong mood playing this game? :P

I loved the atmosphere in Metro 2033 and Last Light, but in Exodus I was always thrown off whenever there was dialogue involved. I felt like they were all talking too slow and too much, and the bad writing didn't save that. Yes I know Miller, you are looking for the son you never had, you can stop highlighting the word "son" everytime you adress me now...It felt like the developers were trying to jerk some tears from me with words, where the interaction between the characters had no chemistry. Always letting the characters about single emotion that's in their heads makes me feel like the developers didn't know how to convey feelings through actions...That's a reason why I avoid German television soap operas, but now I did get that low niveau of writing served in an otherwise cool game.

Also the way everyone tried to squeeze into frame was super uncomfortable. Often I didn't feel like a character in the game anymore, but more like the guy with his camera and all the others wanted to be on tape. It felt extremely unnatural.

So much for my rant and personal reason for why I hated the character interactions in Exodus and felt nothing in scenes that clearly were made to make me feel. Do I stand alone with this impression? Did others feel more immersed? Was 2033 and Last Light the same and I just didn't notice back then? Feel free to share your thoughts.

Yeah it's not great. Every character you meet has to dump half an hour of exposition on you telling you their life story. Feels weird to have a silent protagonist as well, particularly when it seems people are responding to what he 'says'. Also, why does everyone insist on speaking at once?

Still, they are my only gripes with an otherwise great game.

This is true. I kinda chose my own demise by stubbornly wanting to see as much as possible. But in 2033 and Last Light I had no problem with listening to people in the stations and gladly "wasted" my time there, whereas in Exodus I kept losing focus through most monologues. Just personally feeling a bit sad about it just as i finished the game today.
