Volga-No villagers to save?

Hi, Im replaying the volga chapter to obtain the fisherman achievement...
I went at the bandit camp to retrieve the guitar and i noticed that the villager captured by the bandits is missing....is this normal? what happened?

I thought they start a scripted sequence to execute their prisoner if you come close. So if you come close and walk away, he's done for.

Maybe a Demon got him.

You have to get there and wipe out the two bandits right away while they are still talking to him, as they shoot him right after they finish talking. Killing only the bandits in this level won't harm your karma.
