So Many Crashes & Freezes
I've been having so many issues playing the game starting when I entered the Caspian Sea level. I've had the game freeze completely, forcing me to Ctrl+Alt+Del and restart my PC at least 4 times in Caspian and 2 to 3 times in the Taiga level. I've also had issues on startup, either it crashes to desktop smoothly, or I have to restart my PC in the aforementioned method.

I was just watching the "Autumn" level when it froze and crashed to desktop while Miller was talking.

I've verified the integrity cache every time it crashes, and it always tells me everything is fine.
    My PC Specs:
  • i7-9700k (not overclocked)
  • MSI MEG Z390 ACE
  • EVGA 1080ti
  • Agon 3440x1440 @ 100 Hz
  • 2 Samsung 860 EVO 1TB SSD in RAID 0 (My primary game drive)
    In-game settings:
  • Resolution: 2560x1440 (I had it at 3440x1440 at first and it worked fine until the Caspian level, so I turned it down and it seemed to work better)
  • Aspect Ratio: 21:9
  • Quality: High
  • Vsync off
  • Motion blur: normal
  • DX11
  • Hairworks, Physx, and Tessellation: off
  • Texture filtering: AF-16X (I haven't touched this as I don't know what it does)
  • Shading rate: 1.0x
I tried to include everything I've seen in other posts and information that people asked for, so hopefully it's helpful.

What about Steamoverlay and Steamcloud...I would disable that , too
Whoops, forgot to add that. I did try that, and I got a black screen when I launched the game. I didn't even make it to the game menu.

hmm... with my old gtx980 I dont have any problem.
NVIDIA´s standard answer is to change the 3D-settings for Metroexodus in NVIDIA_Controlpanel as following :
Set the maximum rendered still images to 1
Set the monitor technology to G-SYNC (if applicable).
Set the multi-display / mixed GPU acceleration to single-performance mode
Set the power management mode to prefer maximum performance
Set texture filtering - quality to performance
Disable vertical synchronization
Activate Threaded Optimization
Set the preferred update rate to the highest available
Apply the changes and navigate to Adjust desktop size and position
Check the box. Override the scaling mode set by games and programs and click Apply.

And :
If you have activated GeForce Experience In-Game Overlay and / or GeForce Experience Highlights, please deactivate both functions as they cause problems. Then restart your computer and restart ME.

But in my settings with NVIDIA:Profile_ Inspector I did set Vertical Sync to Forced On.
And in game to off. -That works fine

Black Screen At Launch Fix

Black Screen is a common issue with PC games and Metro Exodus is no exception. To fix black screen, start the game and when the black screen appears, press “ALT + Enter” and the game will go into Windowed Mode and will start to display.

Now go to video settings and change the game’s resolution to your monitor’s native resolution and you will be able to play Metro Exodus in fullscreen without the black screen.

If this doesn’t work then the issue might be your GPU driver. If you are using outdated GPU driver then update it.

I have the newest driver, the one for Doom Eternal.

yeah thats the newest
Ok, I went through Nvidia Control Panel and set everything to your earlier comment. I couldn't find the multi-display / mixed GPU acceleration, so I looked it up and apparently Nvidia removed that feature. I also disabled the GeForce overlay, so I'll try to restart and launch the game again. Thanks for all the help!
Ok, so I got a good hour and a half of gameplay without any crashes. I'm optimistic, but cautious about saying I'm fixed for good.

<<<Set the multi-display / mixed GPU acceleration to single-performance mode>>>

This can you setuo with Nvidia-Profile-Inspector, you can download it for free and it has much more possibilities than the control panel.

But it seems to be not so important as you didnt get any crash so far :)

GPU load from 99,8% on my GTX1080 to 37% after I put VSINC on half?
Well, I finished the main game without any problems last night. Went to launch the game again and it did the whole black screen freeze on startup after the intro cutscene. I would like to continue playing the DLC, but I think I'll put this game on the backburner and focus on other stuff until the developers fix the bugs.
The Two Colonels DLC is also fubar for me. The first level where you are burning the black goo and fighting worms worked fine. However, when I got to the part where they were celebrating the new year with the tree lights, the screen went to black and stayed black. I reloaded the last checkpoint and watched the cutscene again, but it continued to refuse to load the rest of the level.
