Sam's story...2nd time for giant bat...

Got to the first camp and my map shows an 'x' and a '?' can't find a way in to the 'x' and the '?' make shows while on the foot bridge.
Other side of bridge is my camp, and the side I came from if you jump into the junkyard the giant bat attacks and seems to kill me every time (cars fall on me)
I'm guess this is the only way into the 'x' area...
Anyone know how to kill the bat...or at least survive?

Yup, the batwing encounters are unavoidable, the one in junkyard included.
Watch what the batwing's doing. When it dives into the cars, run away as far from it as you can, the cars won't hit you if you're far enough. When small bats attack, hide behind a car. I think shooting them also negates their attack. You just need to survive 3 times batwing's car throwing attack and after that the encounter will end.

You aren't supposed to kill it in that encounter, just survive. Stay away from it so you can avoid the cars falling down.

When the bats are sent after you, just fire a few shots, like 3-5 into the cloud and they should disperse.

As for the thing itself, the Sammy rifle should hurt it pretty bad. A shotgun can also help. Just shoot it enough to make it leave you alone, don't need to use fire ammo or go for headshots.

As mentioned above the shootout here depends on you NOT getting the pile of cars thrown on you. You have a few moments after you see the batwing BEHIND the cars getting ready to throw them down on you. MOVE ASIDE in the OPPOSITE direction you came into the junkyard. If you move to where you came in, you might get trapped (as I did) and couldn't move around the fallen cars. Obviously you SAVE before you fall into the junkyard & the fun begins.

Eventually you'll overcome the batwing that disappears. As you continue walking (out of the junkyard of fallen cars), a cut-scene plays where some cars fall on you - but you eventually crawl out to see the demise of the batwing. Summary:

Shoot the batwing when in the air.
Be vigilant of the pack of monster-dogs that come your way (they alternate)
Use a few medkits now & then between reloading.

I was freaked out at first - but after playing the DLC (about 6 times) it's not all that hard.

BTY-you will encounter the 3rd (and final batwing) shortly after you acquire the radiation suits & slide down the very long rope. There you won't have falling cars to worry about (open field).

Lol, yeah, just got to the trapped in the field and died about 4 times and still haven't figured what I have to do...
Shot him, burned him and even got him with a knife... Every time I get to the radioactive rain something hits me from behind (no matter which way I'm looking and I die) Best thing I found so far is to crouch...got to the rain 3 times...but died.
Hate these scripted fights...

Watch the trees. You can see where batwing will be coming from by the movement of trees and mist. When he leaps out of the trees, shoot him several times and he will not attack you.
