(SPOILERS!) Why no Dark Ones?
Feels kinda weird that there's only like, one single mention of sentient humanoid species that can make you feel better and have telepathy and stuff. I hope it gets brought up in the sequel.

There mentioned or alluded to several times and even make a couple of easter egg cameos, but the plot isn't about them. We'll probably see them later in the series though.

Pretty much this, unlike the first 2 games dark ones don't drive the plot in exodus.

When did they make a "couple of easter egg cameos" I think there's about 2 or 3 allussions/mentions of them in total.
I mean you'd THINK that maybe Artyom would at least consider trying to re-establish his mental link with the dark ones, y'know. That sure could have helped.

Also no Khan.

If were lucky Deep Silver will go out of business.

They are on different parts of the open maps like Caspian sea for example. Well Khan left at the end of last light so obviously he wouldn't be there. Plus Artyom is trying to move on and away from the metro which includes the dark ones.

The Little One makes a couple of cameos, he appears in a hallucination in the Caspian and on the roof of the institute in the Dead City. While they are only mentioned by name a couple of times there are multiple indirect references to them such as Artyom's visit to the Botanical Gardens as a child. Artyom can't mentally link with the Dark Ones when they aren't there.

Kahn appears in the game, in the bad ending.

There's not going to be a sequel. This series is over. Dark ones stayed out of this game because they wanted nothing to do with the trainwreck that Exodus was. Misc: Khan is in the true ending of the game

Seems like that with every game but here we are. Do to the deal with epic at least for this game it will sell net positive. Plus again the plot doesn't involve them so why shoe horn them in? Not sure how exodus is a train wreck and why would that be the true ending Khan had nothing to do with the story. Is that why you prefer it to the good ending? Smh

I got a theory that little Dark One has been following Artyom through the whole journey, in every open-world section there is at least 1 situation where Artyom hears voices, or sees strange things.
I'm sure the DLCs will continue the story and finish the whole Metro story. If there's gonna be another big game, it won't be in Moscow or about Moscow people anymore. (maybe some other country)

They have already said they will continue the series if this sells well (which it has), the story isn't over and the canonical ending clearly sets up things to come. This excellent series isn't going to suddenly end just because you personally don't like it.

I kinda hope that's the case, I don't really want to wait several more years for the continuation of the Moscow Invisible Watcher storyline in another sequel.

Whats the canonical ending?
Bankai9212 Mar 4, 2019 @ 1:00pm
Considering if the series continues it'll be the good ending. Only 2033 used the bad ending as canon, that's mainly due to the book and for last lights plot to even work.
