any ideas how to fix the washed out brightness?

this game looks horrible with the washed out screen brightness and gama doesnt do crap for it.

im running DX11 because DX12 is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. in DX12 i can barely get 20 fps in caspian but in dx11 im getting like 102. i dont have an RTX card so i dont have any of those options.

It's a gamma issue with dx11 from what I hear. What hardware are you running to have such horrible DX12 FPS, I had zero issue with dx12.

i have a GTX 1080. i dont know why it runs so bad in DX12, none of my other games run as bad with DX12. no HDR either

Something computer related. I hate to say it, but one way to find out if it's hardware failure is to clean install the OS (everyone should at least once a year anyways). I too have a GTX 1080 not OC'd, 16gb RAM and an old Devils Canyon i5-4690k. Run Ultra everything, DX 12, and Shader rate at 1.2 and I manage 45 - 65 FPS on 1440p.

you dont actually know what your talking about do you? you are NOT getting anywhere near those framerates. even in DX11 on caspain it drops to 28 fps in places 1080p on extreme and my 1080 is heavily overclocked. i beat the game in like 12 hours never crashed once. if something fails it doesnt suddenly get slow, it crashes.

im well aware of that but not that much worse. no way hes getting 50-60 fps on a non oc 1080 at 1440p

I have the same problem with it. DX12 RT on ultra. Lowering the gamma in the settings only makes the problem go in worse directions. Adjusting the monitor helps a little bit, but also dulls the colors and more realistic brightness..

Literally the only game with the problem for me.. and yet I don't have it in the *SPOILER LOCATION* ----------- ------------------------------------------ desert

but everywhere before that at night or in the dark was washed out
