SPOILERS - About the ending

Anyone else intrigued by the metro flashbacks once you finish the game and are carried by the crew back into (what seems to be) the Aurora for blood transfusions ? (get them for both good and bad ending)

If you check out the trailer "Artyom's Nightmare", one could say that the game's ending is telling us that this whole trip to Baikal could be an hallucination and was in fact what the trailer was showing us: a test of strength and willpower for Artyom created by the Dark Ones to test him for something.

The reason maybe why he has such hallucinations about Anna in the end and we can see / hear Dark Ones interacting with him (appearing on the roof of the hospital, high pitched sounds)

That whole trailer was extremely impressive, was it maybe more than a simple trailer ?

Pretty interesting IMO, I bet the books (will) have something very interesting to tell, if anyone has any details please do share, I didn't read them.

I wont spoil it for you, the game's ending is one of its best parts in an absolutely amazing game. Wait until you play it, you'll deeply regret it otherwise, trust me.

88% steam rating, i'd say you're in a small minority that thinks so.

Maybe you're just having a hard time understanding the story.

Try playing something easier to understand for you, like tetris or pong.

My thoughts exactly, the moment it ended.
I liked the actual narrative of the ending (I have only seen the good one) but it felt like if a movie ended instantly the moment you saw the outcome.

A final trip on the train as you head to that place they decided to settle (forgot the name) where Artyom has a talk / lay down with Anna, a journal entry talking about Miller's death.

Another one of those drinking and guitar playing gatherings with both a sense of relaxation and mourning combined as the worst is over Anna & Artyom survived and they discuss more of their feelings about Miller with a cliche but needed talk about how Miller sacrificed his life so they could all sit there together that day etc.

It was very abrupt, going from tense stealth from blind ape mutants a panic filled van drive with Artyom falling unconcious in between Miller and the kid panicing and then literally 2 minutes after the credits are rolling.

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant. If that final train ride was there it would have been even better, but I'm still very happy with what we got.

Agree with the final train trip. It did feel the end to be a bit abrupt and would of enjoyed a final ride with the crew.

On topic:
I don't think it's a dream or hallucination. I also think the story would have much less value if it turned out to be one. I thought the darkones just left considering humans unfit to be their neighbors. And don't think the darkones would have doubts about artyoms perseverance. In the first game they constantly try to talk to him and try to stop him. They have seen what he can do. Second game has shown the dark ones that not all humans are evil so I can't see any reason to test Artyom in this way unless you find some random reasoning. I mean the dark ones generally have shown more compassion than the humans in the games even if there were problems with interactions with them.

But haven't read the books ( would love to but yeah ) so could be wrong.
