Chapter Select for missed Collectibles?
I know you can do it, but I'd like some clarification. Let's say I'm on The Volga and I missed a Diary in Moscow. Can I Chapter Select back to Moscow, collect the Diary page and then Chapter Select back to The Volga with no consequences? Will it show up in my menu in The Volga that I collected it? Or am I supposed to play through until that point again to register getting to The Volga after collecting that page?

I'm not entirely sure how to explain this well. Will using the Chapter Select on an earlier chapter effect later chapters? Does it overwrite progress or just change that one specific chapter? I want to go back and get the stuff I missed, but I don't want to lose all of my progress in The Volga. If I miss picking up an attachment this time that I got last time, will it disappear from The Volga chapter when I reload it or will I still have it? This system confuses me..

Yes, entirely consequence free. The game keeps your chapters and collectibles even if you start a new game. So you can indeed do as in your example, go back to moscow and get what you missed then proceed to volga without issues.

Pretty sure all that long term tracking is stored in the config file: https://steamcommunity.com/app/412020/discussions/0/1798529872642733274/

So you can start a new game and the whole config file isn't rewritten.
