no idea what alchemist you reffering to
Just after ziplining down from across the river from the first "pirate" camp--when you first see the bear--tthere's a camp site in the tree, with two ziplines of its own, one leading to and one leading away from; both of those ziplines have their other ends near the guy I'm talking about (there's a diary entry in his camp, and it's called the "Alchemist's Log," which I why I called him that).
didnt encounter that in my game
what is the problem with alerting him before knocking him out?
He’s in the area where you zip line from the church, when you first see the bear fighting wolves.
If you’re not, just run up to him and knock him out.
There's something around his camp that triggers a sound--like a branch breaking when its stepped on--which alerts him. It's not a trap though, so it can't be disabled, or a piece of junk that you can step around. Oddly, it only triggers one time.
When it triggers, you're still about a half-dozen or so steps away from him and he damned near instantly whips around to where you are. So he spots you before you can knock him out, even if you close the distance at a full sprint. Which means no stealth achievement for you
there's another places or two with this same thing, avoid them or get spotted
Yep, found those two as well. Realizing that I probably porked the achievement on this playthrough, I've just decide to go ahead and play the damned level. Not going to kill anyone, if I don't absolutely have to--which is kind of fun, actually--but otherwise I'm just going to roll on through and do my thing.
