If they make Metro 4...
Artyom is going to have to stop being a silent protagonist. Can't imagine how he'll command the group staying silent. lol.

Maybe we'll play as a different character entirely, Artyoms son?

It has not, he still needs to return to Moscow and save the people of the Metro.

And confront Hanza on their lies!

Even more of a reason to have a final showdown with them. If the invisible watchers were cannibals and they didn't care about the war anymore. Don't you think that Hanza would've known that? Either they were ignorant of the situation or they made up the big lie about the invisible watchers to keep the people of Moscow in the tunnels. Something about them is sketchy and I'm disappointed that we didn't learn more about their motive for this before we left Moscow.

I'm willing to bet Duke is gonna be our next playable character.

First of all the autor of the book needs to write another one that referenece the stuff going in Exodus and then tell some more stuff (like he did in 2035 refferencing the Last Light - not the tale about the little Dark One, but the war with the Reds). Also I HATED the fact that they dumped the plot of the entire book in the first chapter of the game! That sucked!

I'm not sure what your on about there, the Watchers aren't cannibals, in fact there quite the opposite. They're the remnants of the Russian government who control the Metro and all the factions (Hanza, Order, Polis, Reich, Red Line) from behind the scenes in a secret high tech bunker in Moscow. They're the overarching big-bads of the books and presumably the games as well, they are very much real and quite "civilised".

They want to keep everyone trapped in the Metro in order to maintain their control over them and keep Russia alive some way. They created the factions in order to give people the illusion of freedom and choice and then cause the wars between them as a method of population control. They even imply at one point in the books that they created the Dark Ones to serve as a common enemy for the people of the Metro to rally against (or were at least planning on using their "threat" as such), but after Artyom destroyed them they settle on the "war is still going on" lie instead.

Wait. So you mean to tell me that the cannibals in Yamantau are not the invisible watchers? That the real invisible watchers were in Moscow this whole time?

Nope, they weren't the Watchers. I thought the game was fairly clear on that, Miller literally says they're something different in the Yamantau control room and that's why why he didn't recognise them. The cannibals (as revealed through all those notes found in Yamantau) were just soldiers and construction workers who built the bunker, and when the war happened the real Government didn't show up, so they just took over the bunker for themselves. This is consistent with the books where the Watchers explain to Artyom that they chose not to go to the Urals because they wanted to be "closer to the people", so they stayed in Moscow.

I thought they were the real Russian government. All of the cannibals that Miller was executing looked like the leaders. Maybe I didn't pay attention to the fullest or I just missed something small. Well, I'm glad you shed some light on it for me. As for the books. I can't comment it as I'm a book reader.

After reading Sovereign's posts about the books, coupled with all the mentions in Exodus about going back to Moscow to sort things out from multiple characters, I'd say it's a fair bet the devs were planning on that being the next games plot.

Even during the most-likely-canon Good ending, Duke mentions how they still need to go back to Moscow to "stir some ♥♥♥♥ up" and Artyom mentions in his monologue after becoming Commander that it's now time for them to start doing their duty as members of the Order by saving people -- like Miller intended, possibly referring to the people of Moscow Metro. He also said that Baikal feels too big for just the Aurora crew.

Maybe Alyosha invites Olga and the Pioneers over there, since they're in need of a new home.

If Isaac Clarke talked and it worked... why not?

I don't understand the appeal for silent protagonists.... for RPGs that are deep and you want to create yourself or make a random character I get it...

But Artyom is a fully created character. There is no point for him to be silent.

I don't know if this is just me, but I definitely don't like playing as "myself" in video games. I prefer playing other characters and witnessing their story.

I agree. Voiced protagonists are more immersive IMO.

Maybe we can play as Anna for a change?

I recall Glukhovsky stating that the Metro universe would continue through the games only, going forward. So if he says Artyom isn't done, then that's how it is. I honestly see Artyom being more as an icon for the order and Idiot being the strategic commander, with Torkarev being their master of arms.
