Am I the only one that finds this game kinda annoying and....?
Hi,
sorry if this might upset you because your opinion of this game is different and you are a fan of metro series.
But I played every metro title so far and must say this one is the worst one.

- characters are shallow, edgy have clipping errors
- character personalities are shallow as if copied from a cheap telenovela show.
- female protagonist (your gf) is silly and needy all the time and doesnt stop showing you this in every possible situation!
- story is boring and it is hard to connect with any character in this game or feel empathy of any sort.
-maybe that's one of the reasons why they moved to epic store!
-most annoying Boss encounters (mutant bear)

I mean it is a ok game after all, it is not Fallout 76! ;)
But some gaming magazines rated this game with 90 or more! Where very ok games like Wolfenstein 2 only got a rating of 89!

It's just my personal opinion but this game deserves no more than maybe a rating of 75!
What you guys think?

I just finished the Caspian section and am struggling with the idea of finishing the game. I finish about 80-90% of the games I play but The Caspian dessert just sucked the life out of me. The story is weak, the characters up to this point are nothing special, and the core gameplay loop (while serviceable), is just barely enough to keep me playing. I also find the levels and "open world" rather empty and boring.

I liked 2033 and Last Light - this game is a struggle for me though. Aside from it's lackluster shape, I think it's also a reminder for me (personally) open world games over 10 hours just consistently leave me bored. Call me crazy, but I would have liked another linear story driven title. I'm 15 hours into this, wishing I was playing something else.

The game is a solid 6/10. Weakest in the series, but not bad.

6/10? i give it an 8or9. not bad you say? too bad for you my friend. this game is a healthy addition to the series in my opinion. open worlds, rich in story and character assignment, beautiful graphics, interesting combat and a couple of cuties to keep us amused. my advice to you is open your eyes when playing, games are more fun that way. weakest in the series my a$$. you're a disgrace. go and stand in a corner with your nose to the wall and keep your hand off it.

oh.. i forgot something (for all you moaners), the bugs. bugs are fun, they make you work for your dinner. Spartans eat bugs for amusement (and the protein).

(an aside about bug eating folks. a friend of mine once ate a live cicada, the big variety about the size of your thumb. it latched onto his tongue with those little claw feet making it hard to chew. hilarious to watch. (he looked for a few secs, a bit like a dog looks with a piece of toffee stuck in it's mouth/teeth). that was on Great Keppel Island btw)
as a mate of mine might say, 'toodles'.

It's worst metro, yes.
Seems like our splendid Metro is assailed by a horde of grass-guzzlers - tough t.i.t.t.y, said the kitty!
youre right! the old metro games were way better they adapted too much of the "ubisoft openworld formula" id rather got a nice scripted "railshooter" than a boring openworld.....

rly? spiders in the dark not scary enough for ya - you want a bear chasing you ass? just wait till you end up in Taiga - idk who's more voracious tho, the bear or that certain Taigan (watch out for her crack, it may bite your protrusions clean off)

that wise-crack Taigan's definite the hungrier. 'coming upon bear' is nothing like a 'charging' Olga

She is annoying.
I think they tried to make her a waifu but instead he is a clingy unappealing npc.
The game was fine.
The new crafting mode (backpack) was so great!! To replace mufflers with long barrels, whenever you need it.. That's just perfect!

Throwing this aside, I've enjoyed the parts with the main pair of protagonists, Anna and Artyom.

The atmosphere was great and beautiful. I've managed to get myself into the game, and I was really scared of losing Anna, while I've been immersed in the game.
I've been really worried about her.
But, it goes vice-versa, and it's heart-warming, and really nice.. Yeah.. Such are the first years of love, I suppose. When the flow is still in the air.. And how it usually disappears after a few years. It's a pity, but I guess, it's just the need for adventure.

Volga was the best.
Train got damaged.
Fine, let's go on feet and explore the areas. Amazing! Respawning mutants around, bandits and their outposts.. That's the atmosphere that fits the Exodus the most!
Unfortunately, you don't have, yet, the option to choose a sniper rifle (Valve? Or how's it called here, in Exodus..).

You get to demolish the mutants, take out the bandits, and explore. Deliver toys to the child, a guitar to one of the crew, Stepan.. Yeah. That's good.

But, no options to change your outfit?
For example, we can see Anna in her outfit, that's designed for entering areas with abnormal amount of radiation, whereas Artyom must wear the classy Order's, that protects from bullets, but offers no protection from radiation. It's a pity, you can't even be prepared for those areas in advance.
Yeah, there's an option to have a better helmet (focused on filters), but that doesn't really make it as effective as the anti-radiation outfit, as we've had a chance to choose in Metro: Last Light, in Polis Kshatriya, for example, and for taking out or bypassing the bandits in Venice level, where Simon offers you the suit as a reward for helping him to bypass them aswell.
That does bother me to some extent.

Further, we get molotov cocktails. What?! Since when are flames so effective?!.. That's just absurd!

That's it.

The next levels - Caspian, Forest (Taiga, ...). Just what is it?!
Explore for hours, and find nothing valuable? No story attached to it? That's just awful!
Fine, you meet Giul, a veteran sniper, who could probably even compete with the war veteran, Anna. Nice. But that's all that's to it. Nothing else.
Right. You get a car. So what? You do get it, but it makes a lot of noise, so do forget about stealth encounters.
Boooring!

You get the crossbow, or how should I call it during the last, or almost last mission or area in the game. Why?!
I'm not even talking about Shambler, and the other weapons. Why are the good weapons located further from Volga, the best area in the whole game?! Ughhh...

Regardless, the Ark was fun to get to, but there are way too limited resources, as well as the survivors. Cannibals, to be precise. That makes it a walk through the park, while it shouldn't be designed that way.
Although it'd really hurt, why were the cannibals so.. ...hesitant? Why can't they just eat the captured ones alive ASAP? It removes a lot of important atmosphere from the game. Terrible, just terrible!
It's not like I hate Anna or Miller, or Artyom, but I wouldn't mind, if one of them would get eaten (Artyom, let's say), and forcing you to play as Miller or Anna for the rest of the game? Why...

Yeah, yeah. Such are probably too huge expectations.

DLC content.. Why can't it be included in the main game? Too hungry for money, I guess.
I'm not even talking about the boring Intro, that can't be skipped, until you're in the half of it. Why? Whose idea was it?
If I wanna get back to the story after one crash ASAP, I don't wanna watch the intro that I'm forced to watch every single time for a whole minute! Crap! And to think, I've had so high expectations, and was so hyped to finally play the game... Nah!

The mutant encounters are way too limited.
I'd say, that even through the Metro 2033's first chapter and second chapter, you do meet more mutants than in the whole Exodus main story... That's.. So silly!
They've made it fast, but totally forgot about the important parts of the game, of the apocalyptic World!

Fine, you get a high radiation everywhere. But that means more mutants, doesn't it?
Apparently, it means nothing... :imhfd_ageha:

Golden Metro 2033 and Last Light... Really.. To hell with Exodus!
To be honest: I think when Ulman died, the Metro died with him too. :-(

Haha, oh yeah!
Khan and Ulman must've been searching a lot of time for each other! :lunar2019crylaughingpig:
The beginning on the Last Light has been great. The end, on the other hand... Yeah..
Blame the Red Line for his death.
For me, this game hit all the right notes.

I genuinely cared about each character and what happened to them. I was compelled to listen to all of the dialogue so I could get to know them and their backgrounds, motivations, etc. I didn't feel like Anna was too clingy or needy, she is Artyom's wife. Maybe you guys have never been in a relationship (that isn't meant to be an insult I promise), but most people that are in a relationship show affection for one another, and that's a good thing. Anna is a total badass lol, she holds her own in every situation for the MOST part. So do the other characters. If anything Artyom ends up in more trouble than any other character. He relies on his teammates to help keep him alive, and that's a good thing because it doesn't feel like I'm playing as another "DoomGuy" godlike character. Artyom isn't superman. He can die, and one Ranger Hardcore, he did lol. A lot.

speaking of

The gameplay was nothing short of amazing, tense, fun. I play this game on Ranger Hardcore full dive, just like the games before it. It was plenty immersive and the difficulty made each encounter something I had to seriously think about and plan. Because if I didn't I would die. It managed to succeed in creating the perfect difficulty for someone like me. I hate other games that coddle me. This game's stealth was miles better than the previous games, and in my honest opinion, probably better than any other game on the market that features stealth. Because it's true to nature. If you get caught making noise, you die. Stand in the light, you die. Breath too closely to someone near you, you die. It makes sense. Much like in real life, you have to be fully aware of your surroundings in order to successfully move around and stay silent and stealthy.

In addition, resources are scarce, and that means I have to LOOT EVERYTHING! Much like you would expect in a survival situation, it felt real. There were times when I had to seriously assess my resources to make sure I could carry out an objective, or pick up another weapon from the ground. Every moment was a fight to stay alive. I love that this game didn't try to hold my hand the whole way through.

The difficult yet FAIR difficulty combined with resource management led to a tense survival horror experience that I absolutely loved. I understand some people have said that the game's harder difficulty is unforgiving and or bugged, I think they're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ casuals and need to git gud. I haven't experienced any of that. I only had myself to blame if something didn't go right.

The level design was good. They walked a fine and risky line when they introduced a semi-open world, but I think they hit the nail. It seems the biggest issue a lot of you had was that it was too slow and empty. It's a literal nuclear winter, it may feel empty because it's supposed to feel desolate. It's slow for a good reason. It helps to build the atmosphere and allows you time to take stock of inventory and plan your next steps. If you guys want something fast-paced and chock full of action then go play call of duty for that instant gratification you so desperately ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ need.

The Volga was great. It felt natural and organic. I enjoyed the story built up around the place. The map was challenging to traverse and I really had to plan my routes if I wanted to make it to where ever I was heading.

The train sequences were a great break from the rough and tough existence of having to survive and helped to build up the characters if you have a normal attention span, I know you guys apparently don't seeing as to how you think they were shallow and unemotional. If you had paid any attention at all you'd have seen quite the opposite. The characters in this part of the series are better written than any character in the last two games.

The Caspian was a bit out of place, I'll admit, but not terribly so. I enjoyed it a lot. The sandstorms worked organically to make an already tense experience even more threatening with your main sense taken out of the equation. It would have been nice if there was a body heat mechanic in place so that you have to work on staying cool, or warm depending on the circumstance, but I doubt any casuals would have appreciated that now that I'm thinking about it.

The Taiga was by far the most outlandish for the series. But again, I don't think it was a bad thing. It was just different. I didn't enjoy the boss fight because it was hard as hell on Ranger Hardcore, BUT again, that had more to do with my capabilities as a player, rather than the game being "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥".

The dead city was my favorite chapter. It was hard, tense, scary, and I had the added desperation because I didn't want Anna to die.

Then ending wrapped everything up nicely AND more importantly made the karma system worthwhile. Most karma systems are contrived and usually not well developed or implemented. This game did it right, and it didn't at all feel forced. I loved it.

I disagree with the vast majority of you. We probably just have different tastes. You guys seem to appreciate fast-paced casual games that give you that instant hit of dopamine. That's fine, BUT that doesn't mean this game is bad. Just a bad fit for YOU. I found it entertaining, interesting, and heart-pounding. I was genuinely interested in everyone and everything from start to finish. The new mechanics were great and flawlessly implemented. The game developed into something new and exciting without losing its identity and that is NOT an easy thing to do.

My main criticism is that the options arent up to pc standards. I should have been able to go into detail and change several individual aspects of the game, however, what I got was console BS style settings. And I'll admit, I don't know much about RTX or dlss and how well it was implemented, but I don't think it was implemented very well because the cost simply isn't worth what you gain (performance-wise, not monetary).

I don't mind the silent protagonist thing at all. That's obviously a very subjective thing to like or not like. I don't mind it. I can see how it would harm other people's experience, however.

That's all I had to say lol Thanks if you read my text wall :)
