Metro Exodus Unplayable on 1060 Max Q!
Been trying to help my friend run Metro Exodus throughout the day and we both have gaming laptops, however where as it runs well for me, it's unplayable for him.
Specs are up first:
Him - Dell G3 17", 1080p60 screen, i5 8300h, 8Gbs of RAM, 128Gbs SSD, 1Tb HDD and 1060 Max Q 6GBs VRAM.
Me - HP Omen 15", playing on a 1080p144Hz screwn with Freesync, i7 8750h, 20Gbs of RAM (flex mode), 128Gbs SSD, 1Tb HDD and 1060 6GBs VRAM.
I know my laptop is better, but for me on high with everything turned on it runs from 90 to 45fps (thank God for Freesync). For him with everything on low as soon as he takes a step his framerate dips to low 20s and high 10s, even to 0! We've tried redownloading the game, making sure that Nvidia gpu is running it, reinstalling the nvidia drivers and nothing. He can run RE2 Remake at 60fps with dips to high 50s on the same settings that I do (high 70s to high 50s framerate for me). So any ideas why Metro Exodus performs so abysfully for him?? Any help is appreciated.

Plus it might be the cpu

I have a 1060 and am able to play it as indicated above, however on his laptop it's unplayable. He has all of those off. Tried Anthem today and he was getting 50+ fps on it. But for some reason Metro Exodus runs abysmally on his laptop.

I thought it may be the CPU too, but if he can play Anthem and Resident Evil 2 REmake smoothly (plus it's not a low end CPU by any means, has 4 cores and 8 threads), then why not Metro Exodus too? He's getting worse perfomance than a base PS4 running Metro Exodus.

I am surprised you guys can even run it on 8GB ram, I bet if that was bumped to 16GB it be a big improvement

So it may be his 8Gbs of RAM? Perphaps a lack of dual channel RAM? Not sure if his laptop has two or one RAM stick.

But a PS4 and Xbox One CPU can run it (with some drawbacks).

Idk what to tell ya then man. Sorry if my method of turning some stuff off didnt work :(

The recommended CPU for Metro Exodus is the i7-4770K and on UserBenchmark the i5-8300h is almost on par with that CPU. So he has the recommended CPU performance.

Have you flashed & updated latest BIOS, firmware, and chipset?

Make sure you have performance tab ticked under nVidia control panel.
