dx12 or dx 11 with 1080ti?
been seeing mixed opinions on this topic. currently running the game on i7 8700k and 1080ti at 1440, extreme graphics settings. have a solid 60fps in game with dx11 and dx12, nothing overclocked. here is my question i guess... does dx 12 seem to make the gamma or screen a little..brighter? in ways i feel the dx11 looks better and in some ways i think the dx12 looks better except that. idk if it is or if its just my mind n eyes over analyzing things. wish i could run both at same time side by side so i could see for sure. some say dont worry with dx12 if no rtx card but i find that hard to believe since dx12 was out b4 raytracing if im not mistaken. :conwayheadscratch:

Just use DX11....had serious game breaking issues right off the bat with DX12 enabled (hard freezing when monsters pile ontop of you in beginning tunnel area)

use DX11 with 1000 series cards, and keep the shader level at 1.0

the game is really demanding, I get 40 - 80fps at 1080p with a i7 2600K @ 4.2, 16GB ram, GTX 1070

well....coincidentally enough....game just crashed with dx12 on when i was monitoring gpu usage, framerate, and memory etc. had a 10fps hiccup and it froze the screen opening the sewer hatch. 1st time that happened. ive been going back n forth but just like in deus ex mankind divided, i think ill go back to dx11. though metro seems to run better than deus ex did, in dx12.

thanks for the reply guys. imma continue to monitor things. i wish evga precision had a cpu usage monitor. seems to just be temp n such but not actual usage. found gpu usage monitor on it. i kinda want a better thing like evga precision....whatever that might be. as long as its as user friendly

Stay with dx11

ok after the crash and changing to dx11 again and some more tweaking, i now have 136 max fps and avg aroun 80-100 sometimes 120fps. dx 11 it is for me. i really dont see the need to overclock my system yet. at least not running 1440. just cant drop the money on a 4k monitor thats 144hz and gsync and OVER 27 inches....does that monitor exist yet LOL?
DX11 = Non-Ray Tracing
DX12/DXR = Ray Tracing

He has a 1080ti....he isn't going to get ray tracing anyways
Poo-Doo Feb 22, 2019 @ 9:22pm
yeah no ray tracing. n i read mixed opinion on using dx12 with the 1080ti n 1080. but personally it never worked right. something always f-ed up again thx for the replys

and i cant just bring myself to get a 2080 and dont really have the money for the 2080ti right now, especially when only back in july\august i got dropped $800 on this dam evga 1080ti ftw3 hybrid. i just knew that the new series was around the corner but i hadnt had a pc upgrade in years..i was running a dang hd7950, i just had to upgrade. i should have waited, but everyone knows how the first round of founders cards are...i would have been the lucky one to have got one to catch fire n burn my sh** down

the 2000 series is hardly worth jumping for anyways...wait till the next gen before worrying about an upgrade.

Same CPU, same graphic card. If you don't use OC in this game you can go DX12. And you must because DX11 works bad with gamma correction and all blacks looks grey. For me DX12 works perfect but remember NO OC. It's a very sensible game and the minimum OC results in crashes.
