Otherwise, backup user files so you can provide them to tech support.
This is not true. I've experienced multiple broken saves and I'm not playing in hardcore mode.
So what you're saying is, should I dare to actually use the save files, they could get broken?! That's not how save files work.
from my own recent personal experience i can say that for me...
the entire save system and chapter select system is utterly broken
i finished my first run and then went into chapter select to mop up some missing achievos
then i tried a NG+ run and it worked off of my save from chapter select ..not from my completed game so i didnt get all 10 weapons or any upgrades
i tried loading and reloading what ever saves i had..(4) ..all recent ..saved by the game itself ..not saved by me .. and nothing worked to get me a REAL NG+ with all of my weapons and weapon upgrades
my fully completed game was wiped out completely
if you want to play the game straight and not use chapter select or expect to have nothing carryover with an NG+ run then the save system is tolerable
but if you try to use chapter select to mop up missing achievos it will screw up your NG+ run
What I meant is that Ranger Hardcore doesn't even offer the option of manual saving
If only there was a fix or mod to increase the number of save slots from 4 to 'lots' then it would be more tolerable.
