I do also agree that there should be no bugs like this in a almost a year ling release date. Really bugs at all even in release are not acceptable but i know sometimes things just happen. Hope the devs release a patch for both issue were talking about soon.
The only thing that worked was keeping the advanced grafics options off and lowering the quality option to medium. I don't know why (since my pc run the game on ultra quite well), and my freezez only happend at the lighthouse as soon I exit the cave. I can only suspect it to be related to either a bugged game asset or a grafics option like antialiasing, that is controlled by the quality option.
Maybe it will solve op's problem, hopefully. Seems to be a recent issue, and some users have reported the bug to support so hopefully a patch is in the works.
Edit: Did some checking to see if I got something wrong, and the freezes started to happen after the DLC and following patches, not since launch like I thought. I did see older post about similar freezes, but on a closer look it seems that they where either patched out or caused by something else. The incorrect info in my post have been removed.
Glad that you found a solution, a simple one at that. I must have been unlucky when I tried that (probaly some corrupted saves). And I am relived that I don't have to worry about some random borked asset
