Is sam's story also in the books?
Or is only the base game based on the books? And how about the two colonels dlc?

Please no spoilers. I am now at the desert level :)

No it is not. Sam is a minor character in the third book but that's it.

Also to add, all 3 Metro games were made with help of author of the books.
