Epic Games launcher is a spyware and datamining venture
Just read their very own terms of service as they describe how they siphon full names, adresses, billing information even for payment methods not linked to your account, emails, pictures, videos, anything that is on your pc they'll mine similarly to how Take Two's user agreement works, Because they just need to squeeze some more money out of you, Any way possible. That is all.

To my understanding Valve let you opt out of a good bit of it.

Windows 7 is a much more reliable and stable OS than Windows 10. And it does basically everything Windows 10 does. DX12 is a dud, and UWP programs are total garbage that run slower than Win32 programs and are less moddable and customizable.

Also, everybody should be concerned about data-theft in Windows 10. That's why I'll only run Windows 10 Enterprise or LTSC, which have additional options to stop Microsoft from stealing and selling your personal data.

What Microsoft is doing with Windows 10 by stealing people's data is criminal - morally, and legally per GDPR laws.

Thankfully, there are movements seeking restrictions on that data theft, and California has recently passed some of the more strict legislation to prevent unfettered data theft, with California's legislation coming into effect January 2020. I hope that all states and many other countries will soon follow California and the EU's lead in the matter of data and data privacy rights.

That and Epic's tos is by far the worst i've seen for a single program, And on par with windows 10 which is an entire OS and on a separate league.

All apps on your phone are datamining the hell out of you. NOTHING IS SACRED. Sell everything you have and go live in the woods with the bears and wolves. :trolol:

You should read Steam's Terms and Service and privacy policy, you will find they are doing the same exact things as Epic is doing and for the same reasons. So Steam's client is also spyware and data mining.

I've read Steam's SSA, and am not sure what you're referring to. I'm not saying that it's not there, though.

Could you point out the part of Steam SSA that says what you've claimed?

Fingers crossed that issue gets the spotlight it deserves.

Read the Privacy policy of Steam.
https://store.steampowered.com/privacy_agreement/

Read all of it, because it is contained in different sections.

I've read it before. However, it changes and I'm not sure what part you're meaning.

I figured if you're claiming that Valve is collecting the same data Epic is and is using it the same way, that you'd know where it's claimed in the SSA and can show it so that I don't have to read all of it again.

Privacy is considered trivial. But loot boxes, free-to-play, cash shops, microtransactions, now those speak to the gamer. What if the major backers behind this new service use all this as their base business model?

Considered trivial only by sheep who don't understand the dystopian implications it has.
Then again they probably never opened a book and just drool over their smartphones looking at whatever mindless drivel they get shared on their social media, So fat chance they'd read the ones about it like 1984 or Brave New World.
Holy hell Steam removed that security setting, could of happened years ago :/
