Metro Exodus PC Store Announcement

The ability to purchase / pre-order from Steam has now been removed.

However, any customer with an outstanding pre-order for Metro Exodus on PC through Steam will receive their game as expected.

I already pre-ordered Metro Exodus on Steam. What happens to my order?
Your pre-order on Steam will be honored, and you will be able to download and play Metro Exodus on release day (15th February 2019).

If I pre-ordered the Gold Edition on Steam, will I still get my future Expansion Pass on Steam?
Yes, your Expansion Pack content will become available for download via Steam, when released.

Will I still get my pre-order bonuses - the Digital Artbook and Official Soundtrack on Steam?
Yes, your pre-order bonuses will be honored and delivered by Steam.

I ordered the Standard Edition - will I be able to purchase the Expansion Pass in the future on Steam?
Yes, if you own the Standard Edition on Steam, you will be able to purchase the Expansion Pass or standalone DLC on Steam when it releases in the future.

Does the Epic Store have any exclusive or timed exclusive DLC?
No. All future DLC for Metro Exodus will be released simultaneously on all platforms.

Are there any differences in content between the version on the Epic Games store and the version on Steam?
No, they have the same pre-order bonuses and in-game content. All future title updates, patches, and free and premium DLC will be released simultaneously across both versions.

Will Metro Exodus ever return to Steam?
Yes - Metro Exodus will return to Steam and on other store fronts after 14th February 2020.

I was planning on perordering this Friday (payday)... only to learn of this.

Now I just won't buy the game at all. On Epic or PS4.

I wishlisted this game back in 2017 when you guys announced it , how can you do this 2 weeks before launch???? I guess Epic really paid them out alot of money to do this......

And who do you think Valve is catering to? They're here to make money, you're a fool if you think otherwise.

They recently changed their policies to give a bigger cut to the biggest sellers on Steam, which was a big hit for indie devs. Some of them tanked hard since their game lost all visibility on the store.
Valve also haven't released a proper game for 6 years before Artifact (and that game flopped hard, barely a thousand people are playing at this time), they're making bank with Steam.

Valve has almost a complete monopoly on the market and Epic wants a share of it. Welcome to the real world.

Difference between Steam and Epic though is that Steam does not buy off exclusivities out of other stores nose weeks before launch.
Steam stays a platform to sell games and launch them from one place. Epic is buying the rights to access specific titles only from their ♥♥♥♥ store hence removing any possibility for us, customers, to go get the game elsewhere.

It is. But people would rather miss on a good game than leave the comfort zone that is Steam. Hopefully the Epic Store can become good enough to provoke a reaction from Valve.

Hopefully the Epic store can eventually become competent enough to be worth buying games from over Steam. But right now it's incredibly lacking and barebones. Want competition, maybe start with making a decent store that isn't just a page with a list of games.

If you use these platforms as nothing but library's to launch games then sure, not that big of a deal. If you use them for more, like what we're using to discuss this on right now, then there's a pretty big reason to not want the Epic store, or most of these other thrown together platforms from publishers.

While I do like how it will force Valve to reconsider their business practices. I find entirely removing the ability to purchase the game from Steam is quite annoying and rude to the consumer, especially considering you had it availible for purchase for awhile.

While I agree it is a cheap move to do this so close to release, you have to realize that the reason Valve didn't do it is because there was no one to buy exclusives off in the first place...

Like i said in other forum is like going to a diferent store to get somethign you buy in your regular store.
Plus, if you care about the dev team you buy it, not buying bc isnt on steam, that is just caring about Steam. And lets be real steam give 2 cent abuot you.

most people simply dont want to install another awful launcher for one bloody game, simple as that.
