Yes, it doesn't anwer the question, I know. But since this time it's set after the last book, I suppose it's open field.
The M 2034 book was a snoozefest for me. I couldn't believe it was the same author. Gone was the magic, gone were the awesome characters and engaging story. Last Light thankfully strayed from the book quite a bit and did its own thing. The game was good, but it lacked some of the hardcore elements that made the first game so awesome, and a decent challenge. LL was too easy.
I haven't read the M 2035 book, didn't even know it was out, so I have that to look forward to. Hope it's better than 2034!!

Sorry to announce it to you but... no... not really, without any major spoiler, the whole plot is about something that goes against a lot of things that were said in 2033....
And... I don't know, a lot of things that made the metro, the metro are not here. It's still underground, it's still in the metro but that's it. No more mystics, no more mutants, no more anything actually, just artyom being a ♥♥♥♥ to everyone.
Strangely, I thought I remembered he died in 2034 with his wife... but no.
I would advice everyone who liked 2033 to stay away from 2035.
