So why exactly did the PS2 version of Ty 3 not work on Slim models?
I know this is kind of off-topic but I've been wondering about this for a long time. Let me tell you a story. I used to play this game on my PS2 when I was a kid until one day someone broke it and I had only just started playing it. So I eventually got another PS2 to play my games on, only this time it was a slim model. When I found out that this game didn't work on it, I was dumbfounded, and very disappointed. I ended up giving this game to my older cousins because they still had their fat PS2, and I only ended up playing it very little since I could only hang around with them for maybe around half an hour every time I visited them. They eventually gave me back my copy after around 7 years later when I went back to my country of birth for vacation after I moved out of there years ago. Yes, they did beat the game, but I couldn't play it because they sold their PS2. To this day, I still own the game, but can't play it on my PS2.

So, I heard that the reason why this game doesn't work on PS2 slim models was because of some sort of a hardware issue. I know that for a fact because I can boot this game up on an emulator using a slim model's BIOS, so it's not software-related. I've been wondering all these years what exactly could've possibly made this game, along with other games released in 2005 like Jak X have issues being played on slim models if the slim models were released in 2004. Yes, I know I can just play the PC version now, but I just want to know the technical reasons.

There were hardware changes to the slimline (compared to the original hardware) that stopped it from working. We were displeased to find this out, to say the least.

Huh, how come Ty 1 and Ty 2 weren't affected by the hardware changes the slim models made?
Did Ty 3 use something specific in the fat PS2's hardware that was removed later on? I read somewhere that there were several changes made to the hardware (like different ASIC chips) on model versions 7500x that made some games stop working, was Ty 3 one of those games that stopped working at that point specifically?
