This series is weird...
I've loved this series since it first came out on the PS2, and haven't been able to play them again until they came to steam. Playing them as an adult now and thinking about it, the first game is a standard collectathon, the second game, while a little confusing storywise, is still pretty normal. (My point being that it feels like there should be a comic or cartoon that explains things like Boonie's mom dying, and where exactly this entire town came from)
The real kicker is when you get to the third game, where the bunyip elder comes back and tells you to fight this threat. He then tells you that you have to get this glove to beat the threat, even though anyone with a weapon can kill the things. You then get a time skip, where you've been away for 6 months, and in that time, the treat has managed to destroy everything, and you have to save the world. On top of all that, there are zombies, and you drive around in a motorized crab. Anyone have anything to add?

The story is a complete mess. I've played about an hour now and it literally is shams.
Loved all the past games though.

It's not wierd by accident.

Don't forget thet in the first five minutes of the first game we introduce, mystical beings, giant robots, boomerang throwing animals and magical portals. I think we set the tone for the whole series pretty early on.:smilekit:

Maybe the weaker ones are easier to dispose of or the Bunyip don't have nearly as advance technology aside from the power armor and the glove.

No, it doesn't matter what type of Quinkan it is. All of them, aside from the quinking are weak to any weapon. (Still not sure if he's weak to anything else) Be it gun, sword, boomerang, or motorized crab, any weapon can kill it. The bigger ones take more to kill, but bullets work regardless. Explosions also work wonders. The quinkan even die to getting run over. They're just as weak as anything else. The only reason they could even do what they did, is because they have the numbers, and they have the ability to destroy things in mass with their ships and spider type quinkan.

I have to agree with Xion the story in the third game is weird. The first 2 are great storywise for me but just the starting cinimatic of the third game hurt to get through. My only reason is because of how rushed everything felt.

As an example this is part of the beginning
Elder guy says "you need this glove to fight the enemies, there is a guy guarding it waiting for you" *you get the glove* Ty: "who are you?" guy: "I'm the guy that was guarding it waiting for you, go on and there is someone watchin your back in the sky" *Go up a single ramp hallway* bird lady: "I'm glad I managed to catch you guys, ty take this bunyip and sharon come with me" then you finish the tutorial do a training montage of literally nothing but push-ups with the random npcs you talked to once standing there and then it's time to leave because you're strong now.

It just all feels so awkward and rushed storywise and of what I've played it hasn't felt better (though I've only got the 3 guy back into bush rescue at the start) so I don't know. I loved the first 2 games and what the company has done with the ports so I don't mind supporting them on this game (in hopes for that 5th game possibly being made after this port is done) and the story was already made years ago so it'd be a lot work to go back and redo parts of it in this one so whatever. Combat is fun and the rang elemtal stone system seems interesting at least.

I should mention that I really do love the first 3 games. I haven't played 4 yet, but even if the story is weird as ♥♥♥♥ in 3, it's still solid, gameplay wise. Just feels a little rushed and there are some parts that just come out of left field. (Like everything having to do with Fluffy)

Keep in mind that the Quinkans are harder to beat up using boomerangs because they will parry said boomerangs. No kidding, the only really effective way to kill them is to fight them by using the boomerangs as melee weapons. When you wear the gloves you can attack the quinkans and kill them much quicker without throwing the boomerangs.

Otherwise, all the characters I've ever seen killing quinkans were using explosive weapons.
When you use an explosive boomerang, that's surely a quicker way to defeat a quinkan since, unlike the previous giant monsters in Ty 2, they die instantly.

Exactly because nobody was able to beat them effectively. If only Ty and anybody with a bazooka can kill the Quinkans, then good luck to kill all of them when there are thousands of them crawling around and destroying everything they see.

I mean... You can kill them by running them over.
Lumios Apr 25, 2018 @ 10:46pm
@XionR13 What if the crabmersible was effective only because Ty was in it?

Hell, the gloves sometimes start to shine nearby quinkans which means that maybe it weakens quinkans to the point where they can die with more ease from anything.

I obviously don't say that they are invincible, they are prone to explosives, but in the end the plot wants that only Ty can confront said quinkans.

That would make sense, if it weren't for the fact that Shazza can kill them with her gun, Dennis can kill them with a Bazooka, Ridge can kill them with reagular boomerangs, and anyone in a ship with a gun can kill them. Specifically Ken who helps Ty during the flying missions. Then there's the fact that Boss Cass is able to Vaporize Quinkin. I think Fluffy also kill them with her gun. (Pretty sure it was another missle launcher)
They make the gauntlet seem special, yet I'm pretty sure that it only gives Ty the ability to use boomerangs as meele weapons. I'll only give the game that because we see Ridge or Sly using boomerangs as meele weapons. And as for them deflecting boomerangs when thrown, they also deflect the meele attack half the time as well.

When Shazza shot them, all I saw is them getting knocked back, none of them ever got killed by Shazza as far as I can remember during my playthrough. Now, I'm willing to believe you, but just saying. Also I can theorize that they were weakened because Ty was nearby.

Ridge couldn't land a lot of hits, the Quinlans kept on parrying his boomerangs.

About Dennis and Fluffy, let me quote my previous comments:

I will add that it's not like every single character had a bazooka to defend themselves, so the world being taken over would make sense since nothing could effectively kill all Quinkans besides the bazookas.

About Boss Cass, the weapon he is using appears to be relatively powerful on its own. It may have destroyed the Quinking. However, the way it was built and the materials it uses are still unknown to me. The weapon only appeared in Ty 3 and there's no documentation on the weapon anywhere in the game.
My theory is that Boss Cass had shadow stones and he used those shadow stones to make this very special blaster. Again it's a theory, a gaaaaame theory! (amifunnyyet?)
The gloves are meant to have been crafted using ancient power and Ty needs to collect shadow stones and the 3 parts of the shadow chassis to be able to effectively kill the Quinking, hell the shadow chassis is op as hell, it kills all Quinkans in 1 single hit, with the exception of the Quinking.

That being said, I do believe the weapon Boss Cass used was powered by shadow stones or a similar source of power which would explain why it destroyed both the Quinking and Fluffy in one single blow.

About Ken, the game states nowhere that the machinery produced by the Quinkans have the same resistance as the Quinkans themselves.
