My thoughts on the hardcore mode
So, first of all it's my opinion, but I had to address this because I actually think that the hardcore mode in this game is a bit unfair and not well implemented.

The idea that there's a hardcore mode is not the problem. I loved this idea at first, but it's how it was implemented in the game that bothers me.

So, I will first say the obvious, the hardcore mode is similar to that of games like Terraria or Minecraft where when you die you have to restart the game from the beginning which gives to those games a rogue-like feeling, but the problem is that roguelikes and games with "a mode where dying deletes your save file" are often rather short and straight-forward.

In the other hand, Ty 1, Ty 2 and Ty 3 are generally long games and they are all collectathons as such they require the player to pick up every key items to get a 100%. Ty 2 must have the most excruciating 100% of all, especially with the side mission with the deadly stone beetle. I remember when I first played the game on Playstation 2 I died an enormous amount of times just to get through it, in the PC version when it was still in early access. I got through it pretty quickly, but it was due to a bug in the game that made the camera angle not change at all so I was able to see every single obstacles (I still have to replay that mission just to check if the glitch is still there).

Otherwise, it was a pretty crazy boss and when I think about it I really wonder how many times will I have to restart the game just to complete that one single mission.

And I'm saying all of that just to say that I don't think that everyone will really like how this mode was implemented. I actually like the idea of a mode that would make Ty The Tasmanian Tiger much harder, but this is not what I was thinking about.

If anything, the unique idea that I found interesting is the lack of checkpoints. Each time the player dies he would have to restart the entire level which is already a rough punishment.

Additionally, I think the following things should be put in that hardcore mode:
-Instead of taking 4 hits to die, Ty now takes 2 hits to die, when a player buys a live upgrade, the effect of said upgrade is diminished.
-The enemies would be much faster and they would need to take twice more hits to die. Furthermore, some enemies would have additional or improved skills: The frills would dodge more often and the blue tongues would use bigger rocks, etc.
-Enemies would spawn more frequently.
-The bosses would have more moves and I guess especially Boss Cass since he has only three phases with one single attack (tossing fireballs) on the last phase.

I have no personal problem with the mode as it is right now and I will certainly complete it (at least the any%), but honestly I really wanted to talk about that specifically. I think that a hard mode that is much harder and less punishing would be more fun to play than a mode that acts almost exactly like the normal mode, but with the constant fear of dying and having to restart the game.

Well, I guess I said everything that I wanted to say.
Goodbye and have a good day.
