Looking for people to help me test out CCCaster (please).
Hey all,
I love Melty Blood, and was going to buy it on release, until I read about the terrible netcode. For me, that is a no buy. I don't really have anyone to play against offline and my internet is pretty crappy (China).

Anyway, I heard CCCaster is really good and going to be integrated into the Steam version. I could take a punt and just buy it and wait, but I don't even know if CCCaster will be good enough for my internet. Also If I wait then chances are the discount will be over.

...So, who wants to help me test the existing CCCaster to help me decide if I should buy this or not? I don't care what country you are in, obviously the closer the better, but any testing is better than no testing. If you're down to help, add me on Steam and maybe we can play a few games.

Thanks chums.

First: If you will try to use the Cccaster you have to deactivate your antivirus.

Second: Extract the Cccaster ZIP into the game's folder.

Third: Add the complete game's folder into the antivirus' and firewall's exceptions (or at least every single file you got out of the Cccaster ZIP).

This is because antiviruses detect Cccaster as a virus (but it isn't), so they block/erase some of the Cccaster's files.

Then, proceed to set up your keyboard/joystick/stick on the Cccaster Controls option.

Once you finished doing that, tell me to explain you how the conection numbers work.

1) Now, to play online with someone, the one that will host (if that one has an open port in the router even better) will go to Netplay and put a port number and press Enter.

2) The host will paste the IP the Cccaster gave him, so the other player copies that IP, goes to Netplay, pastes the IP and presses Enter.

3) Once connected, the Cccaster will give both players a number called "Netword delay", and will ask for other two "Rollback frames" and "Input delay".

Basically, it's like this: Network delay = Rollback frames + Input delay. You can try any combination of those two numbers but don't put Rollback higher than 4 (or you'll get teleports), and Input delay higher than 7 (too much lag), so the maximum playable Network Delay is 11.

4) Once both players choose the two numbers, press Enter, choose the mode (there is Versus and Training).

5) Play.

Thanks for the info. I managed to get a test done successfully. We weren't able to play because of network conditions, but I have everything set up. Still looking for people to try to actually play against.

If you don't already have it, get Discord, then join this server: https://discordapp.com/invite/0TJ5ma4C19VUCEeV

Finding people to play will no longer be an issue.

Played a whole bunch of matches against a guy in the Philipines. Varying levels of lag, but playable.

Right, ArcSys, I am going to trust in your gesture to reach out to MadSci and hope that the official version of caster will be up to the standard of the unofficial one, so I'm gonna buy the game now. I just want this to be on record, that there are people that will literally NEVER buy your games if the netcode is terrible, myself included.

PS: Still looking for people to play against, feel free to add me.

is the game expensive in your region? it was cheap for me & i bought it cuz im a hard core fanboy

It was 470ntd, which I think is about 18usd. I rarely spend that much on a single game, but I tend to make an exception for fighting games I love.
