controller support is a lie
I have done all the tweaks. Disabled steam controller and overlay. Used x360ce. Nothing works. Controller works in the community edition and every other game I play.

What controller are you using? The game supports XInput controllers just fine as long as nothing is interfering.

Finally I found how to use my Xbox one controller (as wireless).

1. launch game without controller (plugged adapter but controller off)
2. after launched, switch on controller
3. quit game
4. launch game again
5. now the controller is active :)

For your reference, my steam setting as below.

Yes : Enable Steam overlay
Force-off : Steam input per game

[Controller settings]
Yes : Xbox setting support
Yes : General controller support
I don't have a wireless Xbox One controller to test this myself, but it's the best I've found.

Note however that Steam's controller support is disabled in the above case, precisely because it breaks stuff otherwise. I'm not even sure why the "controller settings" are there because they shouldn't have any effect if Steam's controller support is off.

Also, the controller works on the Community Edition because XInput devices are partly backwards-compatible with DirectInput (save for triggers due to a change between both protocols).

Tried that too. I think the game just isnt looking for inputs or something.

Do you have another controller plugged in that could be having priority over your Xbox One wireless one?

You need to disable both controller option in the game's property

This Solution worked although I use a PS4 Pad and was able to configure everything ingame by just adjusting the Forced Steam Input > OFF. Responses feel good so far. Even went ahead and plugged in my old xbox (Madcatz SfxTekken Fightstick and was able to setup as 2nd Player smooth). +1 To this guy's solution

I use a stick and a PS4 pad, and I have to unplug and replug the PS4 pad for Melty to see the stick.

Dood! X-Input works? what controller?
For me only D-Input works on my Logitech Gamepad.

Xinput works fine with a regular Xbox 360 controller. Granted, I've only tested with the original one, but it should logically be the same for most X360-compatible controllers, as well as most devices that support XInput.

I think either something is interefering with your controller's XInput mode and screws things up, or Logitech controllers might not 100% reliable on the XInput side.
