If anything I think the issue lies with the game itself: the calculation that modifies the text this way gives exaggerated results by mistake. The issue being unique to certain computers since that calculation is relying on a library, but that library isn't giving the calculation the correct information for it. That's a complete uneducated guess though and just based on what I've seen in other application issues, and makes the most sense to me on paper. Issue with all of that is I have no idea how to mod the game if it even can be modified, or how the hell I'm supposed to track down the specific library causing the issue if it is.
Completely confident the issue has nothing to do with anti-aliasing or FXAA. They are intended to blur edges to reduce standout pixels, but when applied incorrectly it can result in too much blur. None of this has anything to do with this issue. I tried changing it for the crack but unsurprisingly it didn't affect the issue at all.

C:\Users\(YOURUSERNAME)\AppData\Local\inkle\Sorcery
This folder contains all of your game settings and save files, so renaming it backs it up for you and the game will make a fresh Sorcery folder with default settings when you launch the game.
I then reinstalled the game.
Now the text isn't distorted anymore.
You can then probably move the save files back over to the original Sorcery folder, but I'm not sure if this will break it again.
I have two different SSDs on my rig, a smaller one as my C: for my boot drive, and a larger one as E: for general game usage (though there are at least a few games on both). Reinstalling the game from my dedicated gaming drive to my boot drive completely fixed the issue for me.
