Analogs & Mods for MOO2
Let's post here cool mods and analog of MOO2 you know.

Mods:
  1. The excellent total conversion mod for moo2 i know is VDC - Very Difficult choice[www.spheriumnorth.com]

Analogs:
  1. The best, imho, remake of moo2 is a Stars in Shadow. The game is in Early Access, but it's fully playable and have a very similar mechanic.
  2. Polaris sector - real time both strategy and tactic parts, but tactic is real, hard tactic, where player actions really decide the outcome of the battle.
  3. Lord of Rigel - very interesting project, not available yet (q13 2017), but depend on description promised non-trivial mechanic of tactical battle.

Please don't post here game like Stellaris (very good game, i have and love), Master of Orion 2015 (imho disappointment of the year), Endless spase and etc. - they tactical battle, imho, is very primitive and the outcome of the tactical battle is virtually independent of the player's actions.
Ideally, imho, in 4x game the tactical battle should be similar to the battle in Nexus - The Jupiter Incident

VDC looks like something I want, but I can't find a readme with the details. Does one exist in the .rar linked on the first post?

From the same page, I've found ICE 12C mod to be very agreeable. Experienced players that run over impossible AIs with little difficulty will find this to be a breath of fresh air. AIs play better with more intelligently designed ships.

I'm agreeing that Conquer the Stars turned out to crash my hype train. I got all sorts of excited when I was reading things like "We want to do what MOO2 did." As if to say, "We know what you guys like. We're gonna do more of that", then released Civ in Space.

Yes, the .rar contains ReadMe_VDC.txt with detail and full history of change.

Guys, I tried to play the update 1.50 but after the intro the game crashes. Any ideas?

I think you installed on non-english version, 1.50 works only with english version.

If I remember correctly, Nexus' development initially was started as "Imperium Galactica 3", i.e. a 4X actually...

Still sad they cut it down to a tactical simulator only. :-/

The words look nice. ETA on a playable demo/alpha/release?
-Turn based combat
-Free space movement

This alone is something that games that claim to want to be MoO2 have had a hard time sticking to.
