i meant
1. Download and install dosbox version 0.74
2. Locate game files. For steam they are in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Master of Orion 2. For gog i don't know.
3. In game directory locate ORION2.EXE, then drag-and-drop it on top of dosbox shortcut. The game should start.
Let me know which step failed if any.
Second, it may appear as just "Orion2" if you have file extensions hidden. I advise to have them shown for now. To show them open file manager, select "View" menu and check "file extensions" check box.
dosbox has stopped running
just confused why it wont work
a. In [sdl] section locate line starting with "output=". It can be "output=surface".
b. Change it to other output, for example change it to "output=opengl" or "output=ddraw", then close and save config.
c. Try to rerun the game.
d. If it does not work, repeat with another output. Possible output modes are: surface, overlay, opengl, openglnb, ddraw
If none of outputs work then I never met such a case, and you may have better luck asking on dosbox forum.
NOTE: Make sure you run the game by dragging-and-droping ORION2.EXE over dosbox shortcut. You don't just double click ORION2.EXE, you don't try ORION95.EXE, you don't try "all other files", etc. Judging by you previous posts you do all sorts of things simultaneously and it is unclear if you followed the instructions.
Also if you have steam pack (all three old orions + a new one), then try running moo1. It works via dosbox so if it runs ok, then dosbox can run on your system and the problem is something else.
