Bernkastel poem weird text??
It seems that under the name "Frederica Bernkastel" in the poem screen, there's text that, spaced differently, is "Depicting him as a real good guy is important gotta make him into a very dirty criminal again huh". Was this in the steam version of Onikakushi, too? Does anyone know what could be up with it? I've read all of Higurashi, question arcs and answer arcs, already, and I still have no idea what this could mean.

Read(DON'T WATCH THE ANIME IS A POO) Umineko no Naku Koro ni then you will understand.

It makes no sense within the story, it only makes sense across the "meta-world" of When They Cry (which by now en-globes Higurashi and Umineko).
And yeah, don´t watch Umineko's anime adaptation, it's terrible.

I've read all of that, too. Could you possibly explain more thoroughly?

I agree. I like Umineko quite a bit. I actually read it before Higurashi, and then read Higurashi because I wanted to understand Bern and Lambda a bit more. Needless to say, I got more than I bargained for.

In the Japanese version of Higurashi, each Frederica Bernkastel poem had this romaji text below her name:
"Sugokuiiya tsu nimieru youni egaketano wa ookiikoituwo dokitanai akutou ni saidoni dekinakyane."

There was no equivalent in the English releases until the 1.08 update to Onikakushi a month ago, and the initial release of Watanagashi.

Now, a direct translation of this Japanese text is "I really like how kind this character feels, I have to make her the worst kind of villain by the end of the story". One of Ryukishi07's friends (BT?) said their favourite character was Rika, so Ryukishi07 decided that he would eventually turn her evil, just to troll his friend. This is what ultimately led to Bernkastel in Umineko Chiru being the final villain.

Incidentally I don't really like the translation MangaGamer have gone with. When I was making minor mods for Onikakushi, I added "She seems so kind... I'll break her by the end" in tiny text below her name.

I have only read the first two episodes of Umineko myself, but didn't that reading order spoil some stuff about Rika for you?

Ohhh, thank you! You're right, a simple change in translation makes it make much more sense! Thank you for the explanation!

Not exactly. Even if it did, I'm the type of person who enjoys stories even when spoiled. A bit like Bernkastel herself... hee hee hee.
