So.... Is This A Different Timeline?
I Just finished Chapter One and Started Playing the second one. I finished the first two chapters of this game and is it a different timeline? I'm confused because *Spoilers to the first game* Three of the characters are dead and now their alive like nothing happened? I'm just not sure if I missed anything or am Supposed to know something by now.

Hmm. Well, you did notice that these two arcs take place at pretty much the same time, right? You don't have two Watanagashi festivals one right after another, and these events don't take place in different years, either. So, what's left?

We can't tell you what's really going on without spoiling. This, too, is a mystery to be solved. Feel free to theorize.

BTW, use the
...
tag if you really want to include a spoiler. Don't worry about previous arcs, though.

Thank you so much, another question, is it worth reading all 80+ hours of the VNs or should i just watch the Anime. I started reading the VN to catch up for Hirugashi 2020

Definitely read this. I guess you don't mean the first anime, but just so you know, it's not a great adaptation, as it rushes through the story way too fast and leaves out important details, so you don't have a proper chance to solve it. It also places too much emphasis on the horror, which is not ultimately the point. (You will probably not understand what it's really about until fairly late in the series, when it's revealed.) As with many good novels, the VN sound novel really allows you to get into the characters' heads, as you have probably noticed. And there are some other interesting things here that you can't really get in other media.

The new anime is probably okay, but it is not what it appears to be at first. It seems it's actually a sequel to this story, not a remake, and it contains some HUGE SPOILERS for things you wouldn't otherwise know for quite a while. For some reason, they didn't tell the us that until after it had started airing.

In short, I definitely recommend starting with this sound novel.

Yeah. Like he said, episode 2 of the new anime has a massive spoiler at the very beginning, that basically spoils one of the major plot twists in the VN. So I would definitely recommend reading the VN first, for a better experience with both it and the anime if you eventually decide to watch it.
