Managing Band Members
After a while of playing on one save, I got all of my band members skills up to 80's and 90's range, and things were looking good. However my klepto guitarist kept stealing from me, so after a while I decided enough was enough and fired him.
I figured replacing him wouldn't be too difficult, as I had $50k, so I searched for bandmates using the max amount, but each time I did this the best I could find were guitarists with skills around 40-50, and they all wanted at least $2k per month, wheras I was only paying around $1600 for all members before firing my guitarist.
In the time I spent trying to rehearse with the new guitarist to get her up to speed on our songs, we were broke. I felt like this totally killed this save and I want to restart.
I'd suggest that if they want 2k per month, then they better be in the 80's/90's for skill, or they need to come down on price a bit for the mid-range players. Just my 2 cents.
Aside from this, having a lot of fun with the game, can't wait to see some more of the features implemented.

The reason why they cost that much and do so little is that we want to encourage players to stick with their bandmates. Band solidity also plays a role in this, go to band info to find more on that.

In future updates we plan to set it up so that band members will ask for raises as you make more money. At the moment great bandmates that you grow yourself are really OP but later on they will balance out a bit more.

We also want to spread the gap for skills a bit more because maxing out each members skills seems really easy at the moment but that is only what I've gathered from players so far.

Fair enough. And definitely makes sense that they would ask for more money as they progressed. I also think part of my problem was that I'm focusing too much on doing rehearsals and not doing enough gigs in bigger markets. After I started doing that it was easier to manage my finances with the new guitarist.
Is the fan gain rate tied at all to the reviews you get? I ask because I've had some gigs where all reviews were above 7, but I only gained 3-5 fans since it was my first performance at that location.

Fan gain at gigs is a mix of review rating and how many people attended which is directly tied to how many fans you have at that city.

Hey Seabass, have another question for you. My singer has 100 Star Quality, 96 Musicality, 98 Writing, and 101 Instrument skill, but whenever the band does gigs the critic notes regularly return comments like, "You can tell the singer has no previous experience in music." or that they performed poorly, etc. Yet when any of the other band members skills got to the 90's, they were all regarded as legends. Between my singers skills and the songs being rehearsed to 100%, why would the singer still be trashed by the critics?

Well first, the instrument shouldn't ever go over 100 so that is really odd. Perhaps 100 causes issue with the review system that I didn't consider. The review system is a bit of a mess though and is on the known issues list.

Look man, I can't help it if I was gifted with some sweet pipes. I did find it odd since none of my other band mates had gone over 100 on anything. Here's a screenshot: http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/91596291475358136/86ABA576253E538EFCB70DD1B021EA90CDF9419A/

Dang, I have to look into that. You got some amazing vocals apparently. haha Well, for now, it shouldn't break anything for you aside from the reviews. I appreciate you posting about it. I don't know about these issues until I run into them or until someone reports them.

yeah I have all stats maxed out on all 4 chars (except for songwriting cause it's MY BAND ! .......So I'll write the damn songs thank you very much ! =)

But yeah...it also constantly says that my char sucks and isn't a star every 2-3 gigs.

Yes it was fixed but not uploaded to Steam yet. It'll be in the next update though.
