Serious Sam 3: BFE
How do you improve graphics/texture quality?
I just started playing Jewel of the Nile, and for some reason the textures are crap. I don't recall them being this way when I played BFE.

Here's what I mean: http://i.imgur.com/zgF1g.jpg

I've looked around the graphics and performance options and I don't know what changes this. There isn't a simple "Graphics: Low/Medium/High" type option, and there isn't a texture quality option. My "GPU Performance" option was set to medium, but setting it to high or ultra didn't change this.

Performance Options > GPU Speed > Customize
Max 3D Rendering MPIX set to your resolution or unlimited

Are you using Radeon card?

Yup, a Radeon. A laptop model though.

You need to tweak GPU Memory, not GPU Speed, to get higher resolution textures. This is probably driver reporting wrong amount of memory so autodetect chose lowest memory settings. Please paste Sam3.log here if you need more help with this.

Also, make sure you don't have the settings turned down too low in your graphics card control panel.

Thanks guys, but it doesn't work. I've increased the Max 3D Rendering MPIX to "unlimited" and it changes nothing.

My GPU Memory option is set to "High" by default, and I tried it in Ultra, no change.

I also don't think it's a problem with my graphics control panel, since I've also been playing Prototype and noticed no problems there.

It still looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/NtDAG.jpg

A nice little box for every rocket.

I tried posting Sam3.log but there was an error posting the comment. It might be too long.

I just checked it and it looks exactly like that if you have the AMD control panel mipmap detail level set to high performance. Changing it back to high quality fixes the problem. I'm not sure what setting it would be for nVidia, but I assume you have an AMD card.

Thanks, that worked. My ATI control panel doesn't have an explicit mipmap setting, but restoring defaults does the job.
