Authentication failed
Hello CroTeam,

First I want to thanks your awesome game series. It has bring me lots of happy gaming moments and I hope that you guys continue this saga for decades =)

But I have an a problem too. Can you guys help me?

When i try to play this game with my friend the client says: Authentication failed. Why is that? I can join multiplayer games, but he cant?

Is there any help to us to play this game together?

You'd have to post your friend's log for Croteam to help you, but that usually happens when you're using a non-legit copy.

If he's a legit owner, make sure to validate game's cache and enable automatic updates, and that he's currently logged into Steam.

Im 100% sure that we both have legitime copys. I buyed this game for him last mid-week-madness and I have this this buyed game in steam too.

So that should not be an issue. And I saw him in game in steam.

Still thanks for advice!

And I will post logs or he can post it, but before that I want to be sure that we are talking with CroTeam guys who says where to post it.

I can agree to this - my friend and I just bought he game and we have exact the same issue. Any resolve on this??

"....validate game's cache and enable automatic updates, and that he's currently logged into Steam." We already did this. We can join other servers but none of us can join a game the other one creates. We get the error "Authentication failed".

Yes Croteam is always around here, so just post both log files in this thread and they'll look into it when they're around. For both I mean both yours and your friend's logs.

Make sure your friend has correct time and date on his pc. Also post his logs

perhaps your friend is on a beta patch by crotem and becuase he is on a beta patch, it can cause a version mismatch or somethign like you are describing here. have him exit the beta patch or you go ahead and subscribe to the beta patch

I am having the same issue...
Both copies are legit (steam sale + humble bundle)
I have validated the cache and my time/date is done by window....

Now what :(
