Game not starting

I have read that several other people have had problems running the game on Windows 10. I have just recently bought/installed the game but have yet to try it as it crashes each and everytime. When I press play, the game window opens blank and a windows error appears ("the application has stopped working and will close").

Have you tried updating the GPU driver? Seems like it cannot initialize DirectX graphics.

I far as I can see, I run the latest Nvidia driver (358.50). I have run a dxdiag and see some 'sam.exe'-things somewhere at the bottom of it.

Sorry, but the dx diag logs don't really show much. We would need a stackdump in our own log to see where it crashed - the way it is now seems more like DX or the driver crashed, not the game. Note also that this game uses DX9 by default, not DX10 or DX11. On some Windows 8/10 systems it can be the case that DX10/11 are installed, but DX9 isn't. That might cause symptoms similar to these. Does that help?

I have already tried to install a full suite of DX but it still causes this trouble. I will try to uninstall DX entirely and reinstall the various versions.

Thanks for replying though. It is nice to receive some feedback on issues like this.

You may want to try starting the game in DX11 mode, using this launch param:

+gfxapi D3D11

Or in OpenGL (slower), with:

+gfxapi OGL
