Sound issue on windows 10
Hi,

I am trying to get this game to work on windows 10, i use a usb headset which works perfectly.

when launching the game, i have absolutely no sound what so ever.

there are no errors no faults no issues.
whats more is i have gone and disabled the surround sound feature on the headset and run it using stereo 2.0 which still no effect.

does any one have any sort of idea what the problem could be?

Hi, thanks for trying to assist.


heres the thing, i have a Razr Kraken, which runs their synapse.


Now i understand that Serious sam does not support surround sound, and i comply, i close the Synapse which than allows windows to use the headset on 2.0 stereo.


I think in general, Serious Sam has an issue with detecting the Headset as the sound seems to be routed to the onboard sound card of my machine.

my headset, is a usb headset.

im not sure if this helps at all but that is what i noticed when i change my default sound player to the onboard.

i noticed that this log is there

my question is why and which two channels are being Reinitialized.

as i mentioned i believe that the game does not support surround, yes it detects the headset and the capabilities of the said headset but it does not detect the left and right channels ( and i think this is because the sound is being digitally remixed from 2.0 to 7.1)

i have disabled all sound devices except the headset and still no result/
i changed the sound to 48kHz and still no sound.



here is the same sound log with my onboard (using the Jack and earphones from my cellphone with only the two channels , left and right) - this works there is sound.

Hm, it should work. I don't see why it wouldn't. Perhaps try switching audio API?

If it's just at startup, did you try clicking? I don't think the window's focused if it's borderless.

Most games that run in a borderless window run into this problem where you have to actually click to focus on the window.

- Open the console, using tilde key, or F1
- type sfx_iAPI (but don't press enter yet)
- press Tab to see the options
- continue to type something like

sfx_iAPI = 1

- press enter to apply, and then restart the game.

And what does it say in the log for those two settings? Does it say "Device: Headset Earphone (Razer Kraken 7.1)"?
