Are spiders a competetive deck type?

It looks like I would not need to acquire very many key cards to have a solid spider deck. What I would like to know is whether such a deck would be at all competetive.

If not, I should be grinding toward something else.

Spiders are a bit RNG based but they're still viable.

This spider deck was never beaten. It went 4-0 during the invitational. The player got knocked out during the draft round or it would have won the whole tournament easily. <_<

I got a spider deck too but i'm going to build a dwarf/artifact deck, reason? I had like 26 spiders placed in the enemy deck and he (with the spiders) had 62 cards he keep drawing cards to 45 and only had draw 1 spider.

Happens. This is a phenomenon known as clumping.

When he only had 25 spiders his deck was 61 cards, 36 of which were non-spiders. So there was a high chance that the 26th spider would be placed in the deck NEXT to another spider. Which wouldn't increase your likeliness of drawing into the spider at all, it would only increase the deck size. This happens for each and every spider so many of them end up clumped.

But then as soon as you hit that first spider.... five more are on their way.

You shoul help him. By milling his deck. If spider egg goes on the graveyard, it still takes effect.
