The calibration in Freerider and Liftoff are different, we noticed some people try to do the same thing in Liftoff as they do in Freerider, of course that doesn't give the expected result. Make sure to follow the steps as described in our tool. A lot of people seem to get used to one system and expect everything to work like this in others too, that's not the case. We are aware this project is far from perfect and we promise every system (especially the calibration) will be further worked on and updated in future versions of the game.
While we appreciate reading your vision for the future development of our project, we do have a development roadmap we would like to follow. This works best for the team. While everyone has its own wishes and recommendations we can't make everyone happy at the same time. It's something we've been aware of from the start, but that's the reality of game development. In the end we make development decisions with the best intentions. Development will continue for months to come and we appreciate the support we get from the community. At the same time we feel frustrated. By trying to support the new FPV drone racing sport we stumbled into a world where people are using hundreds of different remote and PC setups. We are constantly being reminded of this, and we are as frustrated about the complexity and difficulties of this reality as you are.
There's a couple of things we want to make clear:
- With every update we try to get a nice mix of bug fixing and feature/content updates, in order to both improved the experience and further expand on the scope of the project. We have a list of thousands of things on our to-do list and they all have a place in our development plan.
- The team and I work day and night to further improved the game and gameplay experience for everyone. We've released 5 updates since release a month ago to prove this.
- We are game software developers and not a hardware support team. Our job starts where the game code starts and we are not responsible for hardware related issues or wrong remote settings. While we agree there are many issues with the current version of the calibration tool, more than half of these issues turn out to be hardware or user related in the end.
- Our team doesn't own every unique hardware setup possible and doesn't have a collection of remotes and controllers to test everything out. Exactly because of this we started the Early Access and we ask the community for help by writing User Guides on Steam. We appreciate the efforts by the community a lot!
- We are not a big company. A team of 4 people is doing all of the development, PR, support, blog writing, website making, planning, forum posting/moderating and everything related to the project. It's a lot of work but we love doing it!
- Liftoff is very new and still has a way to go. Please give us some time to get things done.
Thanks for understanding!
Thanks to the new update you can now calibrate your transmitter as it should but there is need to do a few more things.
Fisrt off all if you did not do it yet you need to install smartpropoplus and the latest version off vjoy.
get it here :
http://www.smartpropoplus.com/site/
http://vjoystick.sourceforge.net/site/
then you need to go to the following link:
http://www.smartpropoplus.com/site/index.php/forum/bug-reports/4-input-data-offset?start=16
Download the dll found on page 2 and replace the file in your smartpropoplus instalation folder.
Now you now need to turn on your transmitter first and let it start up completely do not turn it off.
You can now connect the transmitter with the mic port with a audio cable and test the input in smartpropo in the joystick tab all sliders should all be level and in the center of the bars.
now you can start up lifftoff and calibrate your transmitter.
next it's Time to fly!!
I installed latest version of SmartPropoPlus (replaced the dll as proposed by 'mastahz') and Vjoy on my Windows 10 operating system. So far so good. I connect the radio with 3,5mm cable (with and without the XJT module), it starting up and I get 100% in quality signal in SPP. My problem is that i only get 1 channel and nothing happens when I move the throttle, or anything else on the radio.
I tested with all signal decoders but same result, maximum 1 channel or non-compatibility.
I tested to reinstall, reconnect, read on several forums but so far no luck :(
Is there anything specific I need to change/set in the radio to make it work? Any idea, comment, feedback is highly appreciated!
Thanks!
But to be serious i find i sad that this very nice game/simulator can't be played if it can be solved by something simple and in all the tunigy 9x manuals it's say's to keep the tranmitter off when you connect it.
But when i tried to connect my turnigy 9XR Pro i found after some trial and error that you actually need to start it up and then connect the cable to your pc and not turn it off so maybe that's where the confusion comes from.
It may also be nice to know that if your module is in the radio you are also transmitting while playing the game becous your radio needs to power on first so that's something to be aware off.
Do it the other way around as your wrote works perfectly and the bars in SPP jumps wildly.
It gives a very unstable feeling. The quality level in SPP jumps between 25-100 and tried to play with the sound settings again but makes no difference.
As you most probably understood I'm a newbie in this and one of the reason why I though Liftoff would be awesome to use and train during the winter. E.g. I have not learned to fly Acro yet...
I created a new model/user profile to be able to play with the settings. To my next, stupid, question; when you say "set all your trims in the middle" what exactly should I change? Is it in the "Mixer" settings or in the "Limits" settings? The channel setup seems to be correct, ch1 throttle...
Once again, thanks for the help and feedback!
And don't worry about the trims to much usually when you create a seperate model it already sets evry trim in the middel it's more important to get it up and running and those have nothing to do with that.
take a look at the following pictures and make sure the settings are the same the only thing that will be diffrent is the audio input at the bottom off the screen make sure you connect your cable to the input is say's on your screen at SPP.

Once again thank You for your help and support and others, newbies like my self, fore sure would be very thankful to read your tutorial!
What am I missing here? Smartpropoplus isn't reading my tx
Have you tried with just the audio-cable connected to the line-in/microphone? Don't get fooled like my self thinking the radio is actually on when the audio cable is plugged in. First turn on the radio and then plugin the cable. That worked for me.
The other part which caused problem was that I copied my existing model (user profile) instead of creating a complete new one with all settings as default.
