when i open liftoff and go to controller it doesn't recognize it.
Should work on mac too, since I develop Liftoff on it and frequently use the TBS Tango 2 on it as well. Just making sure: you did disable Steam's generic controller input, right? https://www.liftoff-game.com/support?topic=3&category=1&post=101

And when you select 'joystick mode' from the internal display, you also get the prompt to disable the internal RF?
What does 'Liftoff don't see it' mean?
